The Deal Is Done

++The Iranian Nuclear Deal Is Done. Iran will significantly reduce its enriched uranium, verification mechanisms are in place, sanctions can snap back in 65 days if Iran violates the agreement. The entire chain of supply of uranium is being monitored. Iran and the IAEA signed an agreement that will enable IAEA to determine past military experiments on nuclear issues.

++With BFD Biden beside his side, President Obama addressed the nation and said the deal made the world safer and protected America's interest. He also vowed the veto any legislation by Congress to thwart the deal. President Obama was obviously euphoric as you could tell by his verbosity in describing the deal.

++The deal is a credit to all the negotiating teams. It is important to understand the lead negotiator for the United States was Wendy Sherman, who was dealing with one of the world's most misogynistic regimes. And special kudos to Senator Kerry, who was hobbled by his broken leg and stayed the whole 17 days until the deal could be done.

++President Obama has been concerned with nuclear non-proliferation since his days at Columbia University and later in his early days in the Senate he was befriended by Senator Lugar who worked on historic agreements with Russia. President Obama can now lay this agreement alongside his Start agreement as a major accomplishment of his term in office.

++But if you don't like diplomacy, you can join Bibi who called this one of "the worst days in world history." I will have more on Bibi later in the day.

++But for now, some of us are relieved that the long tortuous time of waiting is over. The agreement is expected to receive the Security Council approval within a week or so.
