++Congratulations to 350.org led by Bill McKibben who organized demonstrations planet-wide to raise consciousness on climate change. Although disappointed in the historic Paris Deal signed by 200 nations,350.org made it possible for the island nations and the indigenous peoples to have a say in the final agreement and to get the desired temperature rise down to 1.5 degrees.
++The second civil society group that made a difference is Black Lives Matter, which focused our attention on police brutality to African-Americans and to the remaining entrenched racism in American society.
