++Vox has a video up about this point. The idea is that humans started civilizations when weather temperatures were fairly steady--about 1% a year--and that only in recent memory we have been seeing spikes. What that means is that human habitats get destabilized and civilizations are threatened.
++Prime example has been the results of the Syrian droughts which pushed over 1 million farmers off their lands and forced them to Damascus. The Assad regime did nothing to alleviate their suffering and a revolution started and the rest is history.
