Josh Marshall Contemplates Reader's Comments on President Obama's Speech

++The reader found the speech what w expected from President Obama but he noticed that President Obama's rhetoric probably doesn't satisfy the public. No one really believes that anything about gun control will occur under his presidency and more importantly no one really believes such acts can prevent lone wolf attacks. The reader suggests we might have to do the "stupid" to prevent worse reactions.

++Josh Marshall reflects that Harry Truman did stupid things during the Cold War and to head off the more stupid things proposed by the right.

++Personally I get a sense of impending triangulation. Certain Democrats will buy into the anti-terrorism rhetoric in order to blunt a more voracious popular reaction. Personally I think this would be a mistake but the policy discussions are now a vast desert.
