Chris Weigant's Friday Talking Points

++Friday Talking Points returns and awards the Most Impressive Democrat to President Obama for his executive orders on gun violence. Weigant points out that in the CNN/ORC poll I wrote about that 51% of Republicans approve the orders, and 62% of gun-owning families. 

++He talks about the Underpants Gnomes syndrome beginning to appear in the analysis of Donald Trump. This comes from a Simpson's episode where gnomes believe they will get rich by stealing children's underpants. It goes Steal underpants,and eventually you get profit. The same goes for Ross Douhat and Ezra Klein who say that Trump leads all polls,something happens, he loses. No one has figured out what happens, even if he wins a few primaries. Douhout engages in magical thinking saying that no one has ever won averaging 30% of the primaries. Ezra Klein argues that Howard Dean was leading all polls and then suddenly he lost.

++It's obvious Weigant is for Bernie because he salutes Bernie for actually proposing real solutions. 

++Weigant wants to remind you of the gloom and doom that the GOIP predicted. Gas over $6.00, unemployment stuck at 8%, Obamacare in a death spiral, and no job creation. In fact, President Obama's job creation record has surpassed both Bush presidencies combined--that 7 years beats 12 years. Obamacare has surpassed its goal of this year. Gas hovers at less than $2.00 and unemployment is at 5%,less than Romney's promised 6%.  I just wish Democrats would cram this down the GOP's throat. 

++But you can always fear--fear ISIS, fear immigrants, fear Ebola, fear anything that may not have a solution. Expect a year of fears about intangible problems. How about hypersonic warfare? That may it into the 2012 GOP primaries.
