Read Martin Longman On "Back In The Wayback Machine"

++Or why the GOP will never allow an Obama nominee to take Scalia seat. The post at Washington Monthly said they will never vote their dreams away. Longman analyzes the whole dispute over the DC District Court, which is considered the farm team for the Supreme Court. Roberts seat there sat empty since 2005 and the GOP argued that the court didn't need another judge even though it was stipulated by law.

++It was the story of Harry Reid's fight against the filibuster of Obama's judges and sub cabinet. He still doesn't have a full government and didn't for his presidency. Astonishing.

++Well, who fills Roberts' seat is none other than Sri Srinavasin, my favorite for Scalia's replacement. Given the dynamics behind the controversy at the D.C. District Court, it would seem that President Obama would be foolhardy to sacrifice SRI and the Democratic majority there.

++Longman says that the pro-lifers will not give up their quest to reverse Roe v. Wade and will stop all future Democratic appointments, even if a Democrats wins in November. The stakes for them are so high!

++Just a comment--Democrats and women voters apparently don't get the buzz saw aimed at their reproductive rights. I noticed this is both by-elections. The Democrats were dreadful in framing this question. The only reason you heard about the shrinking of abortion clinics is the reporting of Rachel Maddow.
