It's Clinton's Election To Lose.

++David Atkins this morning in the Washington Monthly writes that Trump simply can't win the presidential election. But it is Clinton's to lose. The electorate, according to Atkins, wants change this election year and Clinton, who is notorious for her caution, is missing an opportunity to articulate a vision of change.

++He thinks and ,I agree, that the Democrats' messaging this election is terrible. He even puts some of the blame on President Obama who paints the situation as "America is doing just fine", which is not what the voters want to hear.

++Atkins suggests that Democrats coin a nickname for the thin-skinned Trump to draw out his insecurities and force him to make even more unpresidential pronouncements.  He likes the idea of testing "Dangerous Donald" to goad Trump into over the top reactions.

++Democraticunderground posters complain that Clinton's recent attempts to reach out to disaffected Republicans and former elected officials ,including generals,is just the type of thing that her critics can't stand.  I understand this but from the beginning Hillary Clinton has laid down the foundation for the general election in a traditional, systematic manner.

++But there are changes in the electorate. Fewer Americans identify with parties and millenials are the biggest voting block this election and they clearly want change by their overwhelming support of Bernie Sanders.

++Maybe Hillary Clinton should spend more time in reaching out to the concerns of the millennials than to the old Republicans.
