Josh Marshall Reminds Us Trump Is Not A Surprise

++Josh Marshall reminds us that every since Trump entered the field he has led the polling in the primaries going from 25% to 50%. The last such dominant figure was George W. Bush in 2000 as he steadily moved toward the nomination. The problem here is that George W. had the establishment while Trump doesn't.

++He also points out that Hillary Clinton even in her weakened state, has steadily built her lead against Trump.

++Josh doesn't expect Trump to reverse the trend. Marshall reminds us that polls can be wrong, sometimes woefully but lots of them indicate a trend.

++The New York Times wrote a story criticizing Nate Silver for getting Trump wrong. Sam Wang said it was a good article but that the Times conflated journalist and data analyst. Nate wrote a wonderful piece how he got Trump wrong and why--which I guess allowed the Times to attack him. But I don't remember his predictions being wrong, just that Silver's writing "hoped" the GOP primaries would change but he never showed it would.
