+We put our cat down today. She died in Ann's Lap at 6 P.M. She literally went to sleep. She had complete systems failures.
+I will sorely miss her presence. She got her name from the time Ian was studying Gods and Goddesses of Greek in Montessorri school.
+She was a Hemingway cat with extra digits on each paw.
+In my magical thinking I went to Petsmart today and bought $100 of her prescription food and rented a Zipcar nicknamed Kittycat to take her to the vet.
+By two I got called about her bloodwork and it revealed multiple organ failure. Her temperature was 7 degrees lower than normal. The best they could do was patch her up for a month but with no hope.
+My wife and I went to the Vet at closing hours and spent some time with Athena and then made the decision to let her go.
+When I came home, I went to my laptop on the top floor and when I came down I looked to see whether she was asleep in her position on the couch. I am sure I will go to bed waiting for her to some and sleep on my chest.
+We loved you Athena, godspeed. I will miss her.
