Saturday Rant

+President Obama was back at winning the week at the Dailykos for his veto of the Keystone XL Pipeline. Among Weigant he won Democrat of the week. He's placed the United States back up as a moral leader for the Paris Climate Change talks.

+Rachel Maddow gets great reviews for her candidate forum in South Carolina. The Young Turks, who back Bernie Sanders and gave the night to him, agree. One key fact that was stated by Cenk was that Stan Greenberg had calculated that in 2012 51% of the electorate leaned Democratic, now it is 63%. The bulk of that increase is among millenials and secular voters.  Millenials will out number Baby-Boomers this election.

+Weirdly enough, this year really is when President Obama should run for President. The Demographic stars are aligned.

+But what we saw in the recent elections is that the Democratic constituencies don't turn out in off years.

+Matt Yglesias looked at the tremendous loss at the state and the congressional levels due to this. He proclaimed the Democratic Party in trouble. But Tomasky argued in the Daily Beast that every two-term President with the exception of Ronald Reagan experienced the same degree of loss for their party.

+The GOP is particularly vulnerable this year in the Senate and about 20+ seats are iffy in the House.

+Will the new Citizens United world even up the race?

+Nate Silver used to say that the Democrats had a blue-wall--basically 247 Electoral votes closed to locked up. His colleague Harry Etten says that is a myth.

+The Democrats are running on reforming the justice system, income inequality and money in politics. But how will that play when we are now in a full employment economy. We should see unemployment drop a few more increments so that it would be very hard to run against a successful economy. The GOP will do so because they will not acknowledge that President Obama has cut unemployment in half. Besides,as we saw in the Great Recession, they could care less about the unemployed.

+Keith Olbermann appeared on Bill Maher last night and said what I've known that the Donald actually is very personable, polite and actually likes to listen to people he meets.

+David Frum, supporter of the Iraq War,on the same show remarked how JEB's campaign was ill-starred from the beginning. Frum said that the GOP did need to be burdened by policies enacted ten years ago and that a new nominee should have a clean slate. Frum was right--the Poppa Bush, george W, Jeb wrangle about 9-11, Dick Cheney and Rumsfeld sticks the party in the past.

+I finally listened to Dr. Ben's press conference. The content was lunatic but you really couldn't tell because the decibel level was so low and his voice well-modulated. Oh, by the way, without Fox News we would all be Cuba.

+The Guardian has printed a photo spread of Ben's house replete with an oil painting of him together with Jesus. The bulk of the photos were his ego wall with all his plaques and photos with politicians.

+It will be interesting to see if you can the Fox Business debate on Tuesday.
