Ed Kilgore On Fire Today

++Ed Kilgore runs the strong today. His new gig must agree with him. He has four large articles today that run the gamut from Ted Cruz' fathers involvement with his campaign to the reports that Republican leadership is threatening a brokered convention to deny Trump the nomination.

++Reverend Rafael Cruz has a book out published by WMD with an intro by Glenn Beck. Ed gives a history of his involvement in Dominionist Christianity and his belief that America's downfall began with the outlawing of prayer in school in 1962. He believes he can mobilize the religious community to "save" the country--naturally for his son,Ted Cruz.  I never knew that pseudo-historian David Barton is the co-director of Cruz' Superpac. His the guy that said the United States was founded as a Christian country and he has phony documents he uses in his road show to prove it.

++On the brokered convention--which is a favorite topic every presidential year--it seems Reince Preibus and Mitch McConnell met with some Republican operatives here in D.C. at an Asian Fusion restaurant to discuss ways to deprive the Donald of the nomination. They feared exposure because they are afraid the Donald will jump ship and run as an independent.

++Ed reminds us that the last convention that had more than one ballot was the 1952 Democratic Convention and the 1976 Republican convention had some of the machinations about determining the nominee.

++Ed thinks this notion has credibility because Politico's Sean Trende is now pumping the idea here in D.C.

++Ed says we will know once the primaries hit the winner-take-all states--the one Cruz is aiming at.
