The Michigan GOP Debate Is Over--Little Marco Versus Big Don

+It was a disaster. Rick Perry's spokesperson tweeted that his party was committing suicide. The Free Republic people said that Fox News was ganging up on the Donald as they showed clips where he contradicted his positions but didn't do that for anyone else. It was Get Trump night.

+But the Drudge Poll has Trump winning the debate with 69.15%, Cruz 18.42%,Kasich 7.6% and Rubio with 4.74%. The future of the party just didn't get it tonight.

+So Magyn Kelly came prepared to take down Donald by raising the Trump University scandal. But Fox didn't mention the Rubio Corinthian College scandal and he had been their lobbyists.

+Kasich was trying to do his "love one another", line that got booed. He looked real tired and lethargic as he peddled the lines "He knew Ronald Reagan." The Fox commentators after the debate said that that line would have gone over in 2012 but it just showed that Kasich had stayed in elected office too long and was the establishment.

+The Dailykos bloggers loved everyone attacking the Donald but I could tell from right-wing bloggers that they felt the "establishment" had unleashed the dogs on Trump sparring everyone else.

+The debate lacked Ben Carson who would have provided some slow entertainment.

+Climate change was never mentioned. Flint's water issue was blamed on the democrats politicizing it and the destruction of Detroit was from fifty years of left-wing politics.

+The Donald got the loudest applause line when he supported water boarding and torture.

+Rubio and Cruz demanded the Donald release the off-the-record discussions with the New York Times where he said he would modify his immigration program. I thought Trump handled that well saying he would honor the "off-the-record" commitment.

+Josh Marshall wants you to know that Ted Cruz has not spent his career in law enforcement. He has been a lawyer, nothing more.

+I thought the moderators lost control of this debate almost from the first minute where they thought Romney's denunciation of Trump today was a gotcha. Somehow this got into Trump's dick size. And we were off.

+You had to sympathize with the Donald, the Outsider being criticized as the Outsider.

+In the past few days, the GOP has been in a meltdown about the prospects of a Trump nomination. But tonight, all the candidates pledged to back the nominee even Trump. First off the dime was Marco Rubio who must have felt burned by criticism of his #NeverTrump campaign. They said they would go for Trump because Bernie was a socialist and Hillary lied to the families of Benghazi.

+All of them were bonkers on foreign policy. I was really surprised that Kasich pledged to sent combat troops to Syria and back to Iraq.

+The strategy now is for Kasich to win Ohio and Rubio to win Florida. I am doubtful about both.

+What seemed like zingers at Trump sounded to me like inside baseball. I don't not the difference between H1-B visas and short-term work visas. And neither does the audience.

+Trump was hit by a four sided attack--on his character, his business, his "flip-flops" and his foreign policy. On the foreign policy Bret Beier recited the letter signed by the neoconservative establishment saying Trump was unfit to serve as commander-in-chief. Of course, they didn't say they were neoconservatives but basically the whole gang had been encouraged to sign this letter to be combined with Romney denunciation.

+In only survived because the audio cut out half way in.
