OBAMA GOES ALL IN ON DOWN BALLOT RACES.

Thursday we got the news that President Obama was cutting TV spots for all the Senatorial candidates and today it goes further. He is not only endorsing horse candidates but also county candidates. It is clear that President Obama senses that this could be a Blue Wave election.

I wish he had done this in 2010 instead of rolling up his operation.

Next week Michelle Obama will be campaigning with Hillary in North Carolina.

I took all of two--maybe 5 minutes- to vote in Virginia. In North Carolina, the lines have been running 3 hours. Josh Marshall has two post this weekend explaining how that could be and how resources are allocated away from poorer voters and ,I might add, away from colleges in North carolina.

Nate Silver posts at 538 analysis of early voting and what it tells us about the direction of the election. For Nate, the Democratic advantage , which has been illusionary in the past about the outcome, seems real. But Nate picks up the real point. It seems the GOP turnout is depressed and 8% of Republicans are now saying they are less likely to vote. And that is the reason Republicans are alarmed by down ballot races.

Mitch McConnell has gone Bob Dole on us. In the 1992 election, when it was obvious Dole wasn't going to make it,Republicans ran ads for Congressional candidates saying they would provide a check on Clinton. The same today as he opened up his wallet for Roy Blunt in Missouri.

Sam Wang's Senate projections are now merging with the Presidential polls. As we get closer to the election ,they should locked close together. He has the Democrats winning 51 seats to GOP 49. Before it was 50-50.  Later this week,I give my views a try. I think it may be what Senator Testor claimed at the beginning--53 Democratic seats.

Economists quoted in the Hill said Trump's growth rates are impossible. Maybe he was lucky people only focused on how he would sue his accusers instead of his plans for the economy.
