Louie!!!Gohmert Warns The Pentagon Is Going To Annex Taxas to the United States

++Even Rick Perry, who allowed a 2001 military exercise ,says Texans should be worried about being annexed to the United States.

++Remember the actual history not the Alamo, not the myth. The Mexican military reports that each so-called "defender" left on their own and we're killed one by one trying to escape.

++The Pentagon actually had to address this issue at a press conference to pacify Texans who got their governor to order the National ((Read--National) Guard to spy on the American military to ensure there is no military takeover of Texas.

++Dear reader, while they don't think so, Texas is one of fifty states of the United States. It has already been taken over by the United States Government. But I'll give it back.

++But Louie protested these exercises to President Obama--who just happens to be black and the other guy who ordered the 2001 exercises was white.

The Bernie Effect--A NDP Majority in Alberta

++It really is quite amazing that the NDP came back to win a majority in the Alberta legislature. They lost representation in parliament in 1993. Tonight was their best result since 1986.

The NYT/CBS Poll On Hillary

++The Times found that Hillary's approval/disapproval ration is split. But that her leadership qualities improved from 57 to 65% believe she is a strong leader. As to being honest and trustworthy, after a few weeks on Clintoncash, 48% of Americans thinks she is, while 80% of Democrats thin she is.

++Only 9% of Democrats say they would never vote for Hillary Clinton. Compared that to Christies's Republicans where 57% of the GOP says it wouldn't vote for Christie.

++Nine out of ten Democrats say they are ready for a woman as President.

++Hillary has some wind at her back. 43% of Americans favor Democrats and only 29% favor the GOP.

++Her husband, who is a lightening rod for the GOP.has a 76% favorable rating among Democrats and only 4% have an unfavorable opinion of him.

++Hillary will have Benghazi hearings in two weeks. But so far her campaign has ably handled the Clintoncash issues with short clips refuting the "findings".

++The author of Clintoncash said on a conservative talk show he feared being Fosterized, referring the conspiracy theory that Hillary killed Vin Foster. If the author dies, awe should have Dan Burton shoot more watermelons to prove she did it.

The Little Ferry That Could

++With all the noise on the Middle East and Texas going hysterical because two gunmen inspired by ISIS attacked an anti-Moslem cartoon event, the Obama Administration approved a ferry service between Florida and Havana. The normalization of relations keeps going forward but you hear nothing from Washington. Nada, zip, zilch. I think that's a good thing.

++Let's give it up for Hillary. She minced no words today about immigration and threw the gauntlet down by saying that no Republican is put forward a responsible plan to provide a pathway to citizenship for undocumented workers. She said the issue is urgent and can't be delayed. She said she was committed to this as a top priority in his presidency.

++Remember President Obama and John McCain debated the need to fix immigration in 2008. They differed but agreed that it had to be fixed. Now faced with a Congress that is dysfunctional President Obama has moved with his executive orders which all Republicans have promised to reverse if elected.

++The GOP now faces a problem of triage in coping with the zoo of candidates for 2016. Their problem is that they need to winnow who gets to debate. If you go by percentages, you lose diversity with Dr. Carson and Carly Fiorina. Now they are thinking about limiting the number to $ and whose got it. But then they lose Carly.

++Chris Matthews had Bernie Sanders on Hardball and was respectful of him but concerned that money is going to dominate the race. His skepticism was not about Bernie who he likened to Gene McCarthy but of the wealth that dominates our system as never before.

Odds and Ends

++Pamela Geller says she is Rosa Parks.

++Bernie Sanders appeared on Rachel Maddow and said he has 175,000 volunteers for his campaign. He did raise more than Rand Paul. Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio is the first 24hours.

++Larry Flynt had one of the most important endorsements. He backed Hillary Clinton. His point is simple--The next President has the opportunity to appoint a Supreme Court that could reverse the right-leaning tendency of the Court since the 1960s.

++Hillary Clinton plans to celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Ranchero High School in Las Vegas where the student body is 70% Hispanic. Her preliminary remarks indicate she will support a pathway to citizenship. Expect a GOP explosion in response.

++Willard Romney attacked Hillary Clinton's Dinkins' Lecture saying she politicized Baltimore. Seems she wrote a detailed policy paper rather quickly to do that. Willard objected to her phrase "Mass inceration". We are number 1! in the world in imprisoning citizens.

++Kudos to Hillary's response team on their quick slap down of ClintonCash, the book. So far they have contained any real damage.

++It may have dinged her approval rating in the latest NBC/WSJ poll where she is at 42-42. But all Republicans are in the negative ratings.

++The NBC/WSJ poll shows that Hillary still is beating every GOP competitor. She beats Jeb 49 to 43,Rubio 49 to 43,Walker 50 to 40. Rand Paul comes closest 47 to 43.

Huckabee In

++I could not wait for Huckabee to appear at his launch after suffering Tony Orlando and his wife. Huckabee is running sort of as an economic populist, foreign policy hawk, and social conservative. He launched into Clinton's Arkansas, which even people in Arkansas say "ho hum"

++The Club of Growth immediately responded with a critique of Huckabee's economics while governor. Worse for the field, Huckabee says he won't cut social security.

++He hasn't run for anything since 2008 when McCain managed to cut him off at the pass. This time he is not the guitar-playing,soft-spoken one.

Tomorrow--Mike Huckabee

++Governor Mike Huckabee will announce tomorrow.Huckabee says he has been running against the Clinton's for years and has the experience. Ed Kilgore at Washington Monthly reminds everyone that Huckabee only became Governor of Arkansas after the Clintons left Little Rock and never campaigned against them.

++Can you name all the GOP candidates?  Do you know whose left? And where is The Donald?

++Ed Kilgore writes today that the old formula about three candidates leaving Iowa looks like it will end this year when 6 or 7 will have money to go on. That means alot of volatility in the field despite the billionaires. For instance, little Carly has $20 million in the bank from her Hewlett-Packard separation agreement. Carson already has raised $3.5 million and certainly more after today's announcement. Rubio has his own billionaire who could play the same role as Newt's did in keeping the Gingrich campaign afloat last time. Rand Paul has his father's grassroots campaign to draw on.
