From the trial proceedings this week, it was obvious the Olson-Boies team was building an evidentiary trail since win or lose this case will be appealed. The same should hold true for the anti-gay lawyers. So what was surprising was that Andy Pugno, the anti-gay lawyer, told the court that two of his expert witnesses were withdrawing because they were "afraid of retribution" because the proceedings were being videotaped. The judge said this was nonsense since the witnesses were put on the list after the U.S. Supreme Court filed its injunction against televising the hearings.
David Boies has clarified what the fracas is about. The two "expert witnesses" for the anti-gay side gave depositions where they admitted they did not have a basis for believing same-sex marraiges would harm heterosexual marriages and that they had no reason for depriving gay and lesbian couples marrying and that doing so (depriving them) would do gays and lesbians harm. "They admit that and it guts the case of the defendents", said Boies.
Now that's interesting.
