Iran Bill Passes Senate 98-1

++As this blog mentioned, the bill makes it almost impossible for Congress to overturn any Iran deal but both parties felt that Congress should have a role, even though there was plenty of precedent for them not to.

++The Bill went onto the floor without the amendments that insisted Iran recognize Israel, cease terrorism, and dismantle their entire nuclear infrastructure.

++We'll wait and see Iran's response. The whole intent of the original authors of the bill was to kill the deal. By resistance from the White House and other Democrats, the bill came out meaning something else.

++The fight will get down to the lifting of congressional approved sanctions, which are separate from the White House's sanctions and those of the international community.

++If there is a deal and Congress balks at lifting their sanctions, Russia, China and the EU will go waltzing away from the sanctions regime.

++It will be interesting then to see a newly enfeebled Bibi lay this game as his new cabinet is already beginning the in-fighting.
