Scotland Wins Big In UK Elections

+David Cameron's Conservative Party stunned observers by winning 326 seats in the 650 seat parliament and retaining his hold on 10 Downing Street.

+But the real story was the crushing victory of the Scottish National Party winning 56 out of 59 seats. This sets the stage for a replay of a Scottish referendum. The SNP rolled to victory because Scots saw how Labor has moved right and actually worked against Scottish independence.

+I was surprised to see the hostility expressed by Ed Milliband against the SNP, even after the SNP promised to forge an alliance against the Tories. He's was correct that the sweeping SNP victory wiped out a strong Labor presence in Scotland

+Labor's Douglas Alexander, the shadow foreign minister, got beaten by a 20-year old woman running for office the first time.

+The early result from the Orkney and Shetland Islands for the Liberal Democrat was not surprising because of the intense reaction there against the referendum.

+From 57 seats in 2010, the Liberal Democrats ended up with just 8 seats. Nick Clegg resigned his position as head of the party.

+UKIP's Farage lost and I think at last look that UKIP, which had risen with anti-immigrant sentiment, looks like it was wiped out.

+Naturally,Cameron pronounced his win a victory for austerity.

+Ed Milliband resigned his position as head of the Labor Party. Late polling had an even race and even a possibility of a Labor coalition government but it just didn't happen.
