The disabled American protesting the GOP's healthcare bill emphasized the draconian cuts to Medicaid but also exposed alarm about the American Disabilities Act, which passed some three decades ago and sought to integrate the disabled within the community. In the interviews with the protestors , they said these Medicaid cuts would force them into nursing homes where they will die.
One woman said that she had own home and pets and was employed but that would change if deprived of her treatment. She said even though the disabled might be imperfect they can be produce members of society.
Medicaid is the only lifeline these people have to leading a productive life.
