++Oh by the way, Scott Walker's first day in office is getting pretty crowded--rip up the Iran nuclear deal and repeal and replace Obamacare and build the Wall.
++It is all Donald. I was in a doctor's office and Donald was covered for over an half an hour of CNN time. Time magazine has a piece with the Donald on the cover. Newsweek follows suit. Business Insider has the presidential race being between the Donald and Hillary.
++Everyone is up in arms about Quinnipiac's swing state poll which shows Hillary losing to JEB! and The Donald in Florida and winning in Ohio. Take a look at the demographics of the poll. If the electorate is 90% white and 56% Republican, Hillary would be in deep trouble.
++I don't know whether I can follow the 2016 presidential race. I'm now looking forward to the first of many GOP contenders to drop out.If the GOP political language actually makes it into the general election,it will be the ugliest and nastiest election in a long time.

Back To Vietnam
++Willard Romney lashed out at The Donald for criticizing John McCain. None of the Romneys have ever served in the military. The Donald admitted he had student deferments and a bone spur. The Donald then went off on John McCain's poor record in helping veterans , which is true,and then said what did we get out of Vietnam but alot of death.
++Ben Carson at the same Iowa forum said he didn't know whether John McCain was a war hero. Ted Cruz said the refused to go down into the sewer. The RNC decided the Donald criticized the wrong person for nice and said that Republicans never criticized veterans. Tell that to John Kerry whom they mocked with fake purple hearts at the 2004 convention.
++Jeb! hasn't been heard from because his draft number was 26 and no one knows how he got out of the draft.
++The Imperial Post was crowing that this will do in The Donald. The Fact he has monopolized all media coverage of the Republicans this week indicates we may see a bounce yet again in his polls. The Donald won't let go. He claims John McCain just appears on Sunday shows and talks, talk, talks but does nothing.
++Meanwhile tomorrow is the big Bibi showdown with war hero John Kerry. They appear on three talk shows in a row. Bibi is revving up the AIPAC machine to votes against the Iran deal.
++Today President Obama spoke in detail about the critiques of the Iran deal. He will be visiting the VFW convention to talk about it.
++Pat Buchanan came out his fog and wrote a very sensible piece about the difficulties the Republicans will have in rejecting the agreement. Pat argues this would leave the United States isolated,Iran free to pursue a nuclear weapon, and the whole word not trusting the United States whose Secretary of State negotiated the whole thing.
++The Saudis , according to the Christian Science Monitor, will act against Iran before the money flows to tehran from the release of the first tranche of sanctions money.
++My e-mails from conservative military types are hoping that the Saudis and Israelis will form an alliance to do away with the Palestinian issue and then form a collation to fight the Shia and Persians. Oh Happy Day. Anyone saying that the deal is not a choice between peace and war is lying.

Scott Walker Is In
++Scott Walker announces as "a fresh face who will provide new leadership in Washington with new ideas" . He is campaigning as an outsider to Washington. The Wisconsin governor , who fought a recall effort, is a professional politician, who has been in politics his whole life. A college drop-out, he became the favorite of the Koch Brothers because of his effort to "bust" the state's unions.
++He has taken a sledgehammer to the prize jewel of Wisconsin, its university system, and gutted its budget in ways that threaten the world-class nature of the University of Wisconsin's world-class reputation. He most recently signed a 20-week abortion bill and purposely ensured that rape was not included as a reason for the procedure.
++His vaunted jobs program failed to produce a percentage of what he promised. His administration is plagued by corruption and he himself is subject to several "John Doe" Grand Jury investigations.
++It will be interesting to see what he proposes for a national program. In the GOP polls , he is ahead in Iowa and competitive in New Hampshire.

++I have never seen this phenomenon before. The LA Dodgers want me to vote for Clay Kershaw as the MVP for the All-star game. Apparently this is a new thing. Don't players have to get into the game first and perform decently? A strange idea whose time never should have come.
++Major Garret writes in the Washington Post today that the All-Star Home Run Derby should be abolished because it demeans baseball. How about the ear-destroying music played at the stadiums?
++Could someone convince the Post not to publish Redskins puff pieces during baseball season. The Redskins aren't even in training camp. And no, I don't care who is going to be their next quarterback.
++The Donald maintained his dominance. Rachel Maddow had a long clip on the Donald as he sucks the air out of the GOP room. A Reuters-Ipsos poll has the Donald tied with JEB!

Because you have to get to a threshold in national polling,the candidates just have to make news and can't concentrate on the early primaries. Obama To Give 5 million A Raise
++President Obama is going to announce tomorrow his new guidelines for overtime pay, which will affect some 5 million people. Last year he ordered Labor Secretary Perez to review overtime laws with the view to alter payments to those earning $55,000 or less.
++Steve Benen pipes up with an analysis of last week's Pew poll which shows that Obama's approval ratings around the word are up and that majorities in Africa and Europe believe he tries to do the right thing. His marks increased in India. Benen point is that the reality is totally contradictory to claims by GOP candidates.
++The Whale is going to announce tomorrow at a school in New Jersey. Ironic, heh. Christie to announce in a school when he gutted New Jersey's educational budget.
++NBC fired the Donald for his racist remarks about Mexicans . The Donald in Iowa says he will have to change his hairstyle when he is elected President because he won't have as much time to spend on it. He says he will probably comb it back.

Think they are free and about to mentor? Jeb! is going to travel to Charleston to meet with six black pastors. I am sure he will convey his condolences.

++The Washington Monthly has a piece about how to gauge the top-tier political candidates. That is judge who they are hiring and their track record. That should tell you about their strategy. Walker has hired Joni Ernst gang in Iowa to project his competitiveness in the race. Jeb is hiring TV guys to maintain a long-term strategy. Marco Rubio's hires show someone who wants to maintain flexibility yet project his popularity.
++Meanwhile Hillary is trucking along with a defense of Obamacare and healthcare in general and applause for the marriage equality decision by the Supreme Court. Progressive critics say that her vote for the Iraq war and her defense of traditional marriage will hurt her. I don't thinks so.

Things I Missed While Finishing My Taxes
++I missed Vishnu Jindal showing up for the Governors' Conference and protesting outside the White House, saying that President Obama wasn't qualified to be Commander-In-Chief. Gee, I wish he told us six years ago.
++CPAC just opened up today and the Donald has really hired bona fide political consultants for a 2016 run for the GOP presidential nomination. Lots of Koch Brothers connected figures.
++Rand Paul is being hit because the GOP has gone militaristic. I'm sorry Andrew Sullivan isn't around to comment on the dwindling fortunes of one candidate he thought would appeal to millenials.
++PEW Research has come out with a poll that shows the GOP has ended its temporary isolationism. 67% want American ground troops in both Syria and Iraq. 71% of all primary voters want the same. And a stunning 74% say that only military options should be used to fight terrorism.
++The great Bill O seems to keep making things up. Now he saw nuns executed in El Salvador. Previously he had been the intrepid reporter in the Malvinas Islands. What next? He killed Patton himself?

Wisconsin Polls
++The Capital Times decided to average recent polls taking into consideration their party biases. With Rasmussen releasing a poll with Mary Burke leading Scott Walker 49-48. The poll averaging now produces a race with Mary Burke at 51.8% to Walker's 48.2%. Burke's lead is attributed to her superior performances in her two debates with Walker. Marquette University will be releasing one last poll of the campaign before November 4.

Jeb Bush Wins Landslide for GOP Nomination
++The twitter feeds are unanimous. After Bill Kristol bet everyone on Morning Joe that Bush would not be the GOP nominee,everyone knew that Jeb had won--given Kristol's amazing record of getting everything wrong. The Daily Beast has an article how Jeb is unacceptable to the Tea Party. But remember this,the GOP has not won a national election since the end of WWII or for that matter mid-way into the Korean War without a Nixon or Bush on the ticket.
++Chris Christie really is toast as Politico notes. The Bridgegate scandal has morphed into a full scale corruption investigation by the Federal Attorney for the Southern District and the work of the grand jury has proliferated.

Back to the Summer Doldrums
++How bitter will the next few years be? Maybe it is just the humidity but already the nuts are beginning to surface again.
++The House is developing a menu to present President Obama in order for them to raise the debt limit. President Obama said this time he was not negotiating it. Observers expect it to reach climax by December recess. One of the options is to "privatize social security", which would only increase the debt but never mind.
++The House says they will have a conference July 10th on their immigration bill. Whether it includes a "path to citizenship" is anyone's guess.
++If you believe CNN, Republicans are demanding something be done about student loans. Last I looked it was Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat, who was spearheading the charge to cut interest rates on them.
++Sam Adams Lager had a 4th of July ad that quotes the Declaration of Independence but omitted the word "God". A Fox news commentator said that was "letting the terrorists win."
++The Koch-funded Americans for Prosperity are running ads in Georgia warning the state about the dangers of solar energy and that their rates will skyrocket if state power plants use solar.
++The same Americans for Prosperity have cut ads aimed a younger women warning them about Obamacare.
++Republicans are attacking Obamacare again because the employer mandate has been delayed a year. Now they are arguing this is illegal while others are proclaiming this is Doom and Gloom for the health insurance industry like they did when it was passed the first time.
++Rick Perry is using his anti-abortion stunt in Texas as a launchpad for his 2016 run for the Presidency.

The NSA has rejected all FOIA requests by American citizens and the DOJ has just urged the FISA court to keep their decisions secret, contrary to some in the Senate.
++A Mexican sheriff was killed over the weekend with a gun from the Fast and Furious program. This should give Darryl Issa something to play with now that his scandals keep shrinking.
++Liz Cheney wants to be Senator from Wyoming. The only problem is that Republican Mike Enzi doesn't want to retire. Allan Simpson says this will get ugly.
++Only a year ago Mohammed Morsi won the first election in Egypt's modern history. A year later the largest demonstrations in modern history led to his removal by the military. The Saudis applauded Morsi's removal as a sign that authoritarianism would return to the Middle East. The Wall Street Journal urged that Egypt should have a leader like Pinochet. Great. Now The Moslem Brotherhood is waging counter-protests. El Baradei was going to be the Prime Minister, now he's not and he cancelled his appearance on the Sunday talk shows. It looks like the military can't run things any better than Morsi.

If The Hippies Cut Off Their Hair,I Wouldn't Care*

How much cooler can President Obama become now that he's the illegitimate son of Jimi Hendrix? Jack Cashill in his new book "Deconstructing Obama" posits the view that Ann Dunham met a left-handed guitarist named "Johnnie" in Seattle in 1960 and had an affair with this person, who later became Jimi Hendrix, whom we also are told loved to have affairs with white women. Ann Dunham would have been two years older than Jimi at the time and she was living in Seattle at the time.
If true this would damage the great birther myths that Obama was a Muslim by birth as originally argued by Daniel Pipes.
But Cashill isn't so sure. You see he spent alot of time researching David Horowitz' bugaboo--Communist poet and jazz critic Frank Marshall Davis, who has been mentioned in Obama's autobiography. Horowitz also maintained that Obama was a Stalinist as influenced by Davis, a man who was exiled by the Communist Party USA to Hawaii. Cashill thinks there is more to this. Davis wrote an autobiographical book under an assumed name about his amorous advantures. Sort of a radical Frank Harris. In it he talks about affairs with white teenagers. Cashill claims to have discovered nude shots taken by Davis, one of which he thinks is Ann Dunham. He suggests Davis may have gotten Ann pregnant with Barack but the time-line doesn't pan out. Instead, he suggests that Davis sexually molested Obama.
Cashill is the genius who discovered that Bill Ayers wrote Obama's "Dreams of my Father". So he must be credible.
Maybe the Hendrix connection is true. Obama is left-handed. He's been great for the American Indians. Perhaps Obama remembered that Hendrix was part Cherokee. Will the Hendrix family give Obama his part of the royalties now that the family has finally secured rights to all of Jimi's work?
Factional fighting has broken out in birtherland. There is a new theory about why Obama's birth certificate is sealed. You see he was adopted when Ann Dunham married her second husband, an Indonesian, so that Obama became known by an Indonesian name. This name would have been considered alien to Americans--Obama's mother was always thinking about the presidency--so these papers were hidden. The author argues that Obama's birth certificate were changed to reflect this new name. Of course, Barack Hussein Obama was simply accepted as another normal American name.
Jerome Corsi and World Nut Daily have a new DVD out about Obama's eligibility to be President. They use the original birther scheme. I'm sure you will have the DVD show up in the mail during the 2012 election time.
But it may not get there. Newt Gingrich claims that Obama's refusal to defend DOMA is an impeachable offense. See, it's unlike Ronald Reagan refusing to defend a "legislative veto" passed by Congress because it would be unconstitutional. The Christian Right is up in arms about this and has started beating the drumbeat for impeachment on DOMA. Don't worry there will many more reasons by the time Obama is done.
Another Georgian--Bobby Franklin, a Republican in Georgia, has introduced a new bill which would require that women who have had miscarriages be tried for homicide. On the flip side, Nebraska and Iowa are introducing bills that would make it justifiable homicide to murder to protect unborn fetuses. You can run the awful scenarios out in your mind--abortion providers, women killed by outraged husbands and lovers. Here in Virginia, our House of Delegates limited abortion rights by adopting a law that requires the procedure to be done in a hospital, not a clinic. The clinics would have to have corridors to fit a full-sized hospital gurney. Some progressive blogger remarked that a woman would have to be right of the Westbro Baptist Church to support any Republican.
Radio D.J. asked Donald Rumsfeld whether he and Dick Cheney were "Lizard people from outer space who eat human flesh." Rummy didn't respond so I guess it's right.
Montana's Democratic governor Brian Schweitzer has patented a VETO cowbrand to use on all "the Republican's lunatic bills." Schweitzer has vowed to veto anything that doesn't deal with creating jobs. The Montana Republicans have drafted bills to outlaw homosexuality,nullify federal laws,and God knows what's next.
As I wrote before, Americans would actually believe that the House vote to repeal the healthreform bill would mean that it actually was repealed. 20% believe this is true and another 25% are not so sure. The Federal judge's decision to uphold the law makes it 3 to 2 so far. But as Steve Benen at the Washington Monthly points out ,media coverage has been overwhelmingly on the two decisions against healthcare, even though the three affirming it are more legally sound and well-argued.
What do Emma Goldman and David Koch have in common? Both are self-proclaimed anarchists. You can look it up as Casey would say.
Remember all the fuss made about Armand Hammer, the owner of Occidental Petroleum? Edward Jay Epstein wrote an entire book proving that Hammer's father, who was a physician to Lenin, was a KGB agent as was Armand. The Right used this against All Gore because Gore's father was Hammer's business partner. Conservatives even pressured Nancy Reagan not to invite Armand Hammer to the White House. Then, why isn't there a fuss about the Koch Brothers?
Fred Koch made his fortune first in Stalin's Russia building refineries and then later hooked up with his German relatives in Nazi Germany. While he later claimed that his falling out with Stalin was because he "purged engineers", he would later state he supported Benito Mussolini for the way he dealt with unions,a trait that lives on in the family. But then he emerges in the 1950s to fund, if not create the John Birch Society, which focused its attention on Communist China and American politicians. Shouldn't some red flags go up on this? Kim Philby was thought to be a Tory who backed Franco while he was a KGB agent all the time. Why should anyone take Fred Koch's account of his Soviet and Nazi German years at face value. After all he was livid at the American oil industry for "stealing his patents" and had every reason to resent the American system. What better way to discredit these people, who were conservative Republicans, then to create the John Birch Society and discredit all conservative thought?
As I wrote last year, the Koch Brothers adhere to a type of libertarianism, which is known as Anarcho-Fascism,first generated by a German thinker about the time their father was politically involved back here in the States.
This stuff makes the Koch Brothers helluva lot more interesting and nefarious than George Soros.
One of the more interesting Koch relatives is an aunt in Germany named Ilse Koch, formerly Kohler. Ilse was married to SS Col.Karl Otto Koch ,who was the first commandant of the Nazi concentration camps at Buchenwald. He was later investigated for improper conduct that included corruption,fraud, embezzlement, drunkeness, sexual offences and murder. And that was by the Gestapo, not us. Ilse was a "specialist in making artifacts from human skin"--an actual technical title in German.
Ilse became known as the "Bitch of Buchenwald". She was accused of making souvenirs from the skin of murdered inmates with distinctive tattoos. She was investigated by the Gestapo when she built an indoor sports arena costing 250,000 marks. How much cooler can President Obama become now that he's the illegitimate son of Jimi Hendrix? Jack Cashill in his new book "Deconstructing Obama" posits the view that Ann Dunham met a left-handed guitarist named "Johnnie" in Seattle in 1960 and had an affair with this person, who later became Jimi Hendrix, whom we also are told loved to have affairs with white women. Ann Dunham would have been two years older than Jimi at the time and she was living in Seattle at the time.
If true this would damage the great birther myths that Obama was a Muslim by birth as originally argued by Daniel Pipes.
But Cashill isn't so sure. You see he spent alot of time researching David Horowitz' bugaboo--Communist poet and jazz critic Frank Marshall Davis, who has been mentioned in Obama's autobiography. Horowitz also maintained that Obama was a Stalinist as influenced by Davis, a man who was exiled by the Communist Party USA to Hawaii. Cashill thinks there is more to this. Davis wrote an autobiographical book under an assumed name about his amorous advantures. Sort of a radical Frank Harris. In it he talks about affairs with white teenagers. Cashill claims to have discovered nude shots taken by Davis, one of which he thinks is Ann Dunham. He suggests Davis may have gotten Ann pregnant with Barack but the time-line doesn't pan out. Instead, he suggests that Davis sexually molested Obama.
Cashill is the genius who discovered that Bill Ayers wrote Obama's "Dreams of my Father". So he must be credible.
Maybe the Hendrix connection is true. Obama is left-handed. He's been great for the American Indians. Perhaps Obama remembered that Hendrix was part Cherokee. Will the Hendrix family give Obama his part of the royalties now that the family has finally secured rights to all of Jimi's work?
Factional fighting has broken out in birtherland. There is a new theory about why Obama's birth certificate is sealed. You see he was adopted when Ann Dunham married her second husband, an Indonesian, so that Obama became known by an Indonesian name. This name would have been considered alien to Americans--Obama's mother was always thinking about the presidency--so these papers were hidden. The author argues that Obama's birth certificate were changed to reflect this new name. Of course, Barack Hussein Obama was simply accepted as another normal American name.
Jerome Corsi and World Nut Daily have a new DVD out about Obama's eligibility to be President. They use the original birther scheme. I'm sure you will have the DVD show up in the mail during the 2012 election time.
But it may not get there. Newt Gingrich claims that Obama's refusal to defend DOMA is an impeachable offense. See, it's unlike Ronald Reagan refusing to defend a "legislative veto" passed by Congress because it would be unconstitutional. Another Georgian--Bobby Franklin, a Republican in Georgia, has introduced a new bill which would require that women who have had miscarriages be tried for homicide. On the flip side, Nebraska and Iowa are introducing bills that would make it justifiable homicide to murder to protect unborn fetuses. You can run the awful scenarios out in your mind--abortion providers, women killed by outraged husbands and lovers. Here in Virginia, our House of Delegates limited abortion rights by adopting a law that requires the procedure to be done in a hospital, not a clinic. The clinics would have to have corridors to fit a full-sized hospital gurney. Some progressive blogger remarked that a woman would have to be right of the Westbro Baptist Church to support any Republican.
Radio D.J. asked Donald Rumsfeld whether he and Dick Cheney were "Lizard people from outer space who eat human flesh." Rummy didn't respond so I guess it's right.
Montana's Democratic governor Brian Schweitzer has patented a VETO cowbrand to use on all "the Republican's lunatic bills." Schweitzer has vowed to veto anything that doesn't deal with creating jobs. The Montana Republicans have drafted bills to outlaw homosexuality,nullify federal laws,and God knows what's next.
As I wrote before, Americans would actually believe that the House vote to repeal the healthreform bill would mean that it actually was repealed. 20% believe this is true and another 25% are not so sure. The Federal judge's decision to uphold the law makes it 3 to 2 so far. But as Steve Benen at the Washington Monthly points out ,media coverage has been overwhelmingly on the two decisions against healthcare, even though the three affirming it are more legally sound and well-argued.
