++Rushbo attacked The Donald for his remarks about the New York Times reporter. "Attacking a cripple isn't what Republicans do?" Really what about the attacks on Max Cleland? Wait to the attacks on Congresswoman Duckworth this year.
++GOP state chairmen say it looks like the Donald will win of two of the first three primaries if they were held today.
++Eugene Robinson in the Imperial Post has an op-ed about how the Republicans got themselves into this situation. Similar to the thoughts Howard Dean voiced yesterday.
++Meteor Blades at the DailyKos ignored Josh Marshall's warnings and attacked the Donald as a fascist.
++Timothy Egan of the New York Times has a terrific column today on the Donald. He opens with a description of "The Plot Against America",one of Philip Roth's later novels about Lindbergh becoming the President of the United States. As you might remember Lindy was close to Adolf Hitler. The novel is a good read and even mentions Deal, New Jersey since Roth is a Jersey boy.
++Egan methodically recites the Donald's most egregious policy suggestions and notes that Polifact rates him 75% wrong on facts,25% "partly True" and 0% right.
++Since the Donald is getting so much free media time,we are forgetting the other Republicans. Ted Cruz got endorsed by Randy Newman, the head of Operation Rescue and an advocate of killing abortion doctors. Townhall, the conservative on-line newsletter, rejoices about the fall in abortions in America. I guess they didn't get the memo from the Guttmacher Institute two years ago that abortions were falling because of better preventive medicine and contraceptives. This fact is not because the Republicans are shutting abortion clinics and going after Planned Parenthood.
++Dr. Ben Carson is brushing up his foreign policy credentials today by visiting Syrian refugees in Jordan. His prime adviser on foreign policy is Iran-Control great Dewey Clarridge, who said Carson doesn't seem to understand foreign policy.

Happy Thanksgiving
++President Obama wished the country a happy New Year and likened the Syrian refugees to the pilgrims.
++Josh Marshall wants to remind us that if you are concerned about the threat of the Syrian refugees then check out the number of immigrant visas given to all those from the Muslim countries this past year. It dwarfs the minuscule number of Syrians by hundreds of thousands.
++The Donald made fun of a disabled New York Times reporter, who had previously written about him. Similar to his remarks about Charles Krauthammer.
++Been binge-watching the Man in the High Castle. A Phillip Dick story that actually put me off the prophetic writer for years when I read it in high school.
But the point is in episode One when Joe is traveling to the "Neutral Zone" he stops in the Midwest where the sky is filled with snow-klike flakes. The cop who is helping him commented, "It was the hospitals day to burn the infirm and crippled." A perfect Donald Trump society.
++Heard Rush on a car radio and he said something true. The more the media writes about the Donald's lies, the more the Republican base supports him. Because they have been trained to hate the media.
++Pope Francis warns that if "special interests" try to derail the climate talks in Paris, it would be catastrophic.
++Right on cue, my rightwing friends e-mail me a Breibart article quoting a German scientists saying NASA has made up the climate data for years. The e-mail started by quoting Franz Fanon. Why don't they get some conservative quotes? Like Reagan's "Trees create pollution."
++Read Bob Woodward's "The Last of the President's Men". This is Woodward's metier--Richard Nixon, the creator of the EPA. Nixon comes off especially creepy and misanthropic. Based on Alexander Butterfield's archives and taped interviews, Woodward returns to the scene of the crime.
++The "scoop" for Woodward is the handwritten memo from Richard Nixon to Henry Kissinger that the bombing program in Vietnam has produced "zilch" and that it had fizzled. Woodward even calls Henry on the Amtrak to verify. Henry couldn't but he said the bombing of Vietnam had no effect on the war--except the thousands dead. Great read and shorter than Woodward's other books.
++Makes you wonder what effect President Obama's 7,000 sorties have had on ISIS. In Woodward's interview with Butterfield, he said the "Christmas Bombings" of Vietnam solely had to do with ensuring re-election. Polls said the Americans favored bombing. So what's President Obama's excuse?
++Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Sorry I couldn't be in New York.

Who's Going to Make The GOP Debate?
++The first GOP debate is to be held on Thursday in Ohio. The RNC ceded the selection of the participants to Fox News. Allegedly, the participants will be chosen by the first ten in national polls. However, this gets dicey with hometown candidate John Kasich not getting up there and Carli Fiorina not qualifying. The only minority is Ben Carson.
++Fox said they will be having a kid's table debate prior to the first major debate.
++Even FOX admits that it is mayhem trying to decide who is going to participate. Jon Stewart said it succinctly that is whomever Roger Ailes decides.
++Teetering on the edge is Chris Christie, who attacked the owner of my hometown paper The Asbury Park Press because he funds the Monmouth University polls, which say that--yes--the people of New Jersey believe Christie would be a bad President.
++The Donald is romping in all polls with 20+% and double digit leads over the nearest competitors--Jeb! and Scott Walker.
++Today the owner of the Chicago Cubs gave Walker $5 million.
++Earlier next week the Koch Brothers will be hosting their cattle call with Jeb!,Marco Rubio, Scott Walker and Ted Cruz. The Koch Brothers say their campaign will center on the message that our economic policies should help the "unfortunate".
++The Donald says that he may give Sister Sara Palin a cabinet post.

The Donald Continues To Romp
++The Real Clear Politics average poll has the Donald at 18.0%,Jeb! at 13.8%, and Walker at 10.8%.
++The Wall Street Journal is afraid that the Donald will result in Ms. Fiorina--the only women--being cut out of the debates. Except she is several people below the 10-person cut off.

Odd Items
++I have never seen this phenomenon before. The LA Dodgers want me to vote for Clay Kershaw as the MVP for the All-star game. Apparently this is a new thing. Don't players have to get into the game first and perform decently? A strange idea whose time never should have come.
++Major Garret writes in the Washington Post today that the All-Star Home Run Derby should be abolished because it demeans baseball. How about the ear-destroying music played at the stadiums?
++Could someone convince the Post not to publish Redskins puff pieces during baseball season. The Redskins aren't even in training camp. And no, I don't care who is going to be their next quarterback.
++The Donald maintained his dominance. Rachel Maddow had a long clip on the Donald as he sucks the air out of the GOP room. A Reuters-Ipsos poll has the Donald tied with JEB!
++Rachel Maddow made an acute observation about the GOP debates. Because you have to get to a threshold in national polling, the candidates just have to make news and can't concentrate on the early primaries. So expect alot of effort to go into making outrageous claims or statements. You need to go heavy tea bagger to get up in the polls among Republicans.
++Because JEB! is running for President the Bush family now will let him have a house in the Kennebunkport compound.
++The Federal Prosecutor in New Jersey demanded that the law firm who conducted Christie's in-house investigation into Bridgegate provided them with the testimony of state employees. Not a good sign for the Christie Presidential campaign.
++Governor Teabagger Le Page has another 41 bills up on Maine he is threatening to veto. The last veto he screwed up and the bills became law so he is suing. The Maine legislature is still pondering impeachment.
++Conservatives are delighted that the FBI screwed up the background check on Dylann Roof who killed the people at Mother Emmanuel. In other words,it was Obama's Fault.
++Scott Walker is so excited he is going to run for President that he tweeted out his announcement and had to rescind it . He is due to announce when Hillary Clinton makes her major economic address. As Rachel Maddow pointed out Rick Perry was overshadowed by Hillary and then JEB!. Someone is being crafty.
++Conservatives are still upset about gay marriage. They have been e-mailing me photos of gays with leather jockstraps holding the gay pride flag with sayings like the Democrats like this flag but not …the Confederate Flag. I guess the American flag would be too identified with President Obama.
++Harper Lee didn't get the memo. In her first novel Atticus Finch is a racist.
++The "Snake" Kenny Stabler died at the age of 67. Since I was a fan of the Old Chargers ,Kenny was not one of my favorite because he was with the Oakland Raiders.
++Oh yes,New York City gave a ticker-tape parade for the FIFA 2015 Women Soccer Champions--USA! USA!USA!

Obama To Give 5 million A Raise
++President Obama is going to announce tomorrow his new guidelines for overtime pay, which will affect some 5 million people. Last year he ordered Labor Secretary Perez to review overtime laws with the view to alter payments to those earning $55,000 or less.
++Steve Benen pipes up with an analysis of last week's Pew poll which shows that Obama's approval ratings around the word are up and that majorities in Africa and Europe believe he tries to do the right thing. His marks increased in India. Benen point is that the reality is totally contradictory to claims by GOP candidates.
++The Whale is going to announce tomorrow at a school in New Jersey. Ironic, heh. Christie to announce in a school when he gutted New Jersey's educational budget.
++NBC fired the Donald for his racist remarks about Mexicans . The Donald in Iowa says he will have to change his hairstyle when he is elected President because he won't have as much time to spend on it. He says he will probably comb it back.
++Ben Carson admitted he really didn't want to run for President. I guess The devil made him do it. Now what's the excuse for the other 15 candidates in all. Yes, there are 16 GOP candidates for President--among the known. There are hundreds of lesser name people.
++We are lucky that Steve Benen picked up in the 2012 cycle that Mitt Romney lied all the time. This was a great contribution to political education. But what to make of Scott Walker? He brazenly lies about his record in Wisconsin and actually boasted in a fund-raiser that he created so many jobs. The guy is pathological.
++Talk about not there. Jeb! says that the problems in Baltimore and Ferguson were caused by the lack of mentoring. How about talking about all the blacks who are incarcerated? Think they are free and about to mentor? Jeb! is going to travel to Charleston to meet with six black pastors. I am sure he will convey his condolences.
++Jeb! has drawn the attention of the Imperial Post for his history of shady business deals with his family connections.
++The Washington Monthly has a piece about how to gauge the top-tier political candidates. That is judge who they are hiring and their track record. That should tell you about their strategy. Walker has hired Joni Ernst gang in Iowa to project his competitiveness in the race. Jeb is hiring TV guys to maintain a long-term strategy. Marco Rubio's hires show someone who wants to maintain flexibility yet project his popularity.
++Meanwhile Hillary is trucking along with a defense of Obamacare and healthcare in general and applause for the marriage equality decision by the Supreme Court. Progressive critics say that her vote for the Iraq war and her defense of traditional marriage will hurt her. I don't thinks so.
++Conservatives are thrilled that FOX continues its coverage of # Benghazi!. Today's Business section had a long piece of the arms shipments by the CIA into LIbya during the war to overthrow Qaddafhi. Somehow this was criminal and linked to Hillary.
++The Bernie surge continues. Bernie draws larger and larger crowds speaking his populist message.

From The Sublime To The Ridiculous
++The Donald will not reveal his birth certificate or passport information. The Donald is banning all Univision personnel from his properties. The Donald is suing Univision for canceling his Miss America pageant because of his remarks against Mexicans. Ari-Fleischer is upset that The Donald is acting like a car wreck for the Republican race--everyone stares at it while everything goes by.
++Fat Tony Scalia has had a bad two days. When the same sex verdict came down, his dissent waxed on about intimacy and spirituality. Then he said,"Ask your nearest "Hippie". Well ,Huffington Post did, they asked David Crosby, certainly a hippie, who said Scalia was dissing both gays and hippies.
++Piyush Jindal says we should save money and get rid of the courts.
++Mike Huckabee said he would not obey the judicial tyranny.
++Ben Carson just said it was the law of the land. You have to admit it is scary when Carson both on the killings at Mother Emmanuel Church and the verdict on same sex marriage is the voice of reason in the GOP.
++Ms.Lindsey Graham said that it is futile to fight the ruling.
++Jeb! said he wished the courts left it to the states.
++You see what I mean that you will miss Barack when he goes. You will be left with these knuckleheads.

Scatter-Shot Views
++Jeb changed his campaign team before his launch. While it was a shuffle,GOP insiders had complained that JEB had promised that he would be leading and then release his SuperPac Money Bomb and drown the competition and be the Inevitable One.
++Problem is that his money bomb isn't going to make the $100 million number when he launches.
++His digital communications quite because he claimed that Jeb in going to go heavy into television ads. The model for his campaign is his brother's 1999 campaign where George W. convinced his party there could be nothing but surrender to his candidacy.
++Rachel Maddow interviewed Lincoln Chaffee on his unorthodox career but stumbled on a weird fact. Lincoln lived in the same dorm with Jeb at Andover and knew him early in his career. Chaffee broke with the Republicans because he could not trust W. Chaffee actually visited the CIA and was briefed as Senator on WMDs in Iraq and came away saying there was nothing there. Consequently he voted against the Iraq War and ,as he told Rachel, someone has to stand against perpetual war.
++Mike Gerson said that it is true Rand Paul's campaign is in total disarray but that any GOP candidate is only one debate away becoming a contender. But Paul has also pissed off his colleagues on the NSA issue because they accuse him of lying about the surveillance program and trying to get credit about the bill that was passed even though he had nothing to do with it.
++Ted Cruz held a mock hearing inviting HHS officials to debate Obama subsidies. The Department declined because the subject was being litigated/
++The GOP is ramping up its anti Obamacare rhetoric. They claim they have a substitute if the government loses at SCOTUS but even here there was in complete shambles.
++Steve Benen at MaddowBlog writes about President Obama doing a victory lap over Obamacare. The President's point was not only that it registered millions and drastically reduced the uninsured,it effectively is now the American health insurance system five years later. He knows a Supreme court ruling would not only take health insurance away from 6 million and lead to 9,000 deaths per year but that the whole system would be jeopardized.
++Marco Rubio has been drawing criticism for his erratic personal finances. This time it is about his "unsinkable" boat he bought. Actually I think these stories don't hurt him because they make him human with chronic financial problems, something millions can relate to.
++The DONALD really is going to announce on the 16th and he told a Raleigh audience that they would be pleased. The Donald has a secret plan to defeat ISIS and he discussed this with the Pentagon who, of course, think it is brilliant. The Donald will be the job-creatorest of presidents because he knows who to do this. He is the only one who can save us now.
++The Hillary machine is getting into gear. Her kickoff in New York will be the official start-up of her 50 state organizing campaign. Yes, Iowa Democrats are crying for her to return. But I think they need the money.
++Former Senator Tom Coburn gave a frank interview with a conservative radio host and said he was horrified by the field of Republican candidates. He gave a person by person analysis . He favors Marco Rubio.

++Rubio gave a speech to say he would get tough against Russia and China.

Bridget Riley is pissed at being thrown under the bus and is now suing for access to the Christie sponsored investigation that exonerated Christie.
++Ben Carson's campaign quit but his business manager Armstrong Williams says it's no problem. The various SuperPacs got into each other's way. He still polls well in Iowa.
++Nate the Great tells us we should not take the Wisconsin Straw Poll that showed Bernie Sanders at 41% too seriously. We didn't.
++Under the surface, various progressive websites do not recognize a reality about Hillary's campaign. She is locking up the permanent delegates like Democratic office holders, which play a key role at the convention. There are structural elements to her campaign like Obama's before hers that rarely get observed or mentioned. 50-state organization is key. Locking up delegates is another. Basically all Democratic-leaning think-tanks are in her corner. This doesn't leave alot of space for competitors.
