++Then the House voted on a Republican Amendment to eliminate all federal funding for AMTRAK, another target for the last decades.
The vote was 147 to 272 defeating the amendment. All yea votes were Republican.
++Let's say it passed and then somehow made it through the Senate. This amendment would have killed all national passenger rail service.
