a war has broken out in the Republican party. Michael Gerson at the Washington Post comes out for briefing electors on the degree of Russian aid to Trump. FOX News devoted at least a half an hour on the intelligence report and followed up on the Hill with various GOP leaders demanding an investigation. They also pointedly remarked that at no time has Trump been critical of Russian behavior whether it was Crimea, the Ukraine or Syria.
They also followed up with Tillotson's relationship with Putin going back to the early 1990s. They said Tillotson was promoted to being CEO because he made the deals with Russia which would net ExxonMobile billions in profits. The tone of the program was very critical and they raised issues about Trump's stakes in Russia.
Kurt Eichenwald alerted everyone to tomorrow's story in Newsweek about how Turkey is using its Trump Tower as leverage over the United States government.
Keith Olbermann in his Resistance broadcasts proclaims we are being taken over by a coup and have lost our independence.
Mitch McConnell, who had been reluctant to pursue the Russian angle, has finally agreed that there has to be a bipartisan committee to investigate Russia's role in our election. And even more reluctantly the timid Paul Ryan finally agreed also to an investigation--as long as it does not call into question the results of the election.
I can not overestimate the firestorm in this town over the allegations about Russia intervening on Trump's behalf. Even Pence had to agree that all facts should be on the table.
