Early in his presidency, President Obama was asked by liberal donors why he wasn't push for more progressive policies. "Do you remember what they did to Martin?" A member of the National Security Council later told the press the Deep State threatened to assassinate President Obama if he moved against them. Hence his failure to prosecute the torturers and his delay in releasing the torture report.
Now we have a President-almost elect Trump who tweets a trade war with China, who holds over a trillion in US bonds, wants to cut off the Syrian "moderates" funded by the CIA,and ally himself with Putin,to whom he owes his election. How long before the Deep State reacts?
His tweeting diplomacy as been liken to former Obama aide Pfeiffer as a monkey throwing shit and calling it policy.
I ,for one, question how he is going to cancel the Iran nuclear deal and ally himself with Putin in Syria who is aligned with Iran to fight ISIS, when They aren't fighting ISIS today.
Dana Millbank raised the issue of North Korea when George W. came into office and they cancelled the "agreement" with North Korea negotiated by Bill Clinton as a sign of appeasement. Millbank said that the W. Administration never thought through their actions and had an appropriate response when North Korea defiantly created nuclear arms and a missile project.
On the Iranian nuclear deal,Iran has most of what they wanted, We get ours by continuous oversight by the International Atomic Agency. Besides this was negotiated with the assistance of Russia, China, France,Germany and Great Britain, the UN Security Council. Now how does it work when we unilaterally cancel the agreement? How long will Iran have to create a bomb?
Then take Trump's call to Pakistan. A nuclear-armed country that supports terrorism. He had vowed to put them on the state terrorist list in his conversations with India. Now he invites himself to Pakistan and praises their government.
Remember this man does not have a mandate. And he is already a walking conflict of interest. Despite his team saying his call to Taiwan was a master stroke and praised by Ted Cruz and the Arkansas Senator, it was apparent that it was generated by his interest in developing hotel resorts on the northern side of the island.
The intelligence community is going nuts with his tweeting and phone calls. Only one person from his transition team has been assigned to liaison with our multiple intelligence agencies. Furthermore Trump has turned down his daily briefs on intelligence matters and has not clear his phone calls with anyone either in his camp or in the State Department.
This is a clusterf***k waiting to happen.
