Raoul Castro defends President Obama

++We've just been watching an historic opening to Cuba but it is doubtful we can comprehend the intense emotions behind this from a Cuban point of view.

++Raoul Castro decided to go Castroesque and speak for an hour and a half on the Cuban revolution and the various perceived errors of the United States.

++Then he abruptly changed the tone of his emotional speech and said that President Obama is not to blame and exhorted the session of hemispheric leaders to understand that President Obama was an "honest" man.

++The backstory behind this normalization contains the murky parts of all our history starting during Batista. You don't really want to know.

++But is was surprising that Raoul let it all hang out. he said that he told President Obama he got emotional talking about the Revolution.

++Next up is the private meeting between Raul and Barack.
