++President Obama met with the civil society representatives at the Summit of the Americas, the first time the civil society had been invited to a summit for this hemisphere. The African civil society were invited to the Obama-Africa Summit.
++President Obama said so the assembled dissidents that "we are always with you." The group consisted of Cuban dissidents that had made their way to Panama.
++There were clashes outside the hall between pro-Castro and anti-Castro forces and also protests of pro-Maduro and anti-Maduro Venezuelans.
++The Venezuelan President flew in and immediately went to a monument to the Panamanians who died during the American invasion that ousted Noriega.
++Then President Obama greeted Raul Castro, who said In English,"How are you." The handshake appeared in this morning's El Pais in Madrid and had to be explained in a State Department press briefing that the two men didn't discuss anything of substance.
++Of course,their historic handshake already occurred at Nelson Mandela's memorial surface. But that handshake was overshadowed by the selfie controversy of President Obama helping the beautiful blonde Princess from some European country take photos on her cellphone.
++Meanwhile John Kerry had been talking hours with the Cuban foreign minister.
++President Obama made the BBC with his comment that "the days of our meddling in the affairs of the hemisphere are over." The remark seemed less about Cuba than about the recent flap over his executive orders on Venezuela.
++President Obama announced his $1 billion aid package for Central America, the result of the flight of Honduran children to the United States last summer.
++President Obama and Raul Castro are to meet privately today.
++The Imperial Post says that if President Obama lifts the terrorist designation on Cuba, that will have to wait 45 days before it takes effect. The Senate would have to block it with a veto proof majority.
++President Obama said in Jamaica and again in Panama that ending the economic embargo will take some time.
++But the United States and Cuba are supposed to move ahead with the opening of the embassy.
