++Virtually every electoral district voted to "remain" in the European Union. By the early morning in the UK, the Scottish National Party made it clear it would have to re-do the independence referendum.
++Scottish ministers said that the campaign against independence had been predicated on staying in the European Union and the promises by David Cameron on devolution. Since the first has been voted down, the second is unfeasible, Scotland will have to go again for independence.
++Places like the Orkney Islands had voted against independence last time but overwhelmingly voted to "Remain" this time.
