+Catherine Rampell writes today in the Washington Post that the single greatest threat to the U.S. Economy is Donald J.Trump.
+Rampell says that Trump's economic policy proposals Moody Analytics found to be "catastrophic". They would push America into a two-year recession that would be the largest downturn since the Great Depression. They would cost millions of jobs.
+Trump's proposals would increase federal deficits by about $10 trillion over a decade, according to the Tax Policy Center. And Trump has offered few offsetting spending reductions.
+He makes Hillary Clinton a fiscal conservative given that the net fiscal impact of her own platform is close to zero. Rampell says that his plans would massively destabilize the U.S. economy.
+And that's because government borrowing at the scale Trump's plans envision would cause interest rates to rise, which then would crowd out private sector activities such as housing, consumer spending and business investment.
+Rampell writes that if Congress gave Trump everything the US economy would be 6.5 percent smaller than it would have been under current policies. Moody's estimates it would be 9.4 million fewer jobs.
+She writes that these forecasts are terrifying and voters may voluntarily bring a Category 5 economic hurricane upon themselves. And for what? To "shake things up". To give "the middle finger to the establishment" ? To make Washington more entertaining or less politically correct?
+The only one who would come out of it better would be Donald J. Trump.
