Hurray! Senate Votes 78 to 21 to Outlaw Torture

++For those of us concerned about the "reversibility" of President Obama's executive orders outlawing torture, hats off to Senator John McCain and Dianne Feinstein by crafting an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act, which outlaws torture the way international law actually defines it.

++It was doubtful that the two Senators could muster enough votes for this logical connection to the Torture Report, since the majority had objected to the Report ever being released.

++Sadly, torture has always been outlawed since we ratified the Torture Convention but the "legal beagles" of the Bush Administration "rationalized" the techniques of Enhanced Interrogation as "not-torture" for the US's benefit.

++Congratulations to Senators Feinstein and McCain for accomplishing this.
