++The Los Angeles Times has the full speech by Bob Dylan at Musicares. Last night I had seen only about half. I love the parts where he talks about the roots of his own songs. Yes, he did mention Jimi Hendrix and "All Along The Watchtower".
++And why don't they talk about how Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen garble their lyrics? Even though he does garble in live shows, the remastered Dylan actually reveals that the early and middle Dylan were actually cleaner sounds than we remember.
++Jimmy Carter shocked Dylan when he said that his lyrics harm more effect than presidential speeches.Luckily, he recovered from that to deliver the speech, which is almost textbook on modern songwriting. And yes he did like his songs being used in commercials.
++I thought he got a good jab in at the reviews of his latest when he said "With me,they have to look underneath and they listed all the songwriters. It was probably the only time they ever got any press--which is good."
