++The Times of Israel has an interesting story about how Bibi pulled the rug from out of Peres when he reached an agreement with Abbas over a demilitarized West Bank and a shared Jerusalem. The talks got so serious that Abbas flew back from Jordan to finish the talks with Peres. This was in the summer of 2011. The dividing point that they agreed to talk about later was the status of Palestinian refugees, which the UN says numbers 5 million.
++This might put John Kerry's attitude toward Bibi's invite in perspective. You got the impression that all these flights to the Middle East were some quixotic mission. Maybe they were in retrospect but they seemed at the time to be based on some fact.
++The Huffington Post/ YouGov poll has shown up in Israel too.
**47% of Americans believe the Boehner's invitation was inappropriate.
**30% thought it was appropriate.
While
**58% think President Obama should meet with Bibi.
**19% thinks he shouldn't.
**46% think their congressman should attend.
**24% says no.
**30% are unsure.
**39% of Democrats think no.
**30% say yes.
Of course the GOP is dramatically in favor of the Bibi invite --over 75%.
++I would be concerned if I were an Israeli that the dramatic drop-offs in the poll concern attitudes of the Hispanics,African-Americans and women. Bibi seems to be aiming at Bill O'Reilly's demographic of older, white males.
++Bibi has agreed to debate Herzog but after his American trip.
