The Democratic Debate

++Nate the Great thought the three were low-energy tonight possibly because of the Paris events. There live-blogging team wondered about the timing of this debate anyway on a Saturday night and with the Iowa Hawkeyes playing at the same time.

++Nate the Great expected Hillary to come out guns blazing on ISIS but felt that she was muted in response. Harry Etten believes that if national security climbs the scales in the public's concern then Hillary has problems.

++Martin O'Malley's Annie Oakley statement was perceived by the millennial blogger as sexist.

++Etten felt that the GOP will use the 9/11-Wall Street comment as an ad against Clinton even though the audience cheered.

++Martin O'Malley didn't seem to gain traction. Nate thought he came across as a milquetoast. Nate pointed out that he needs 15% in Iowa to get any delegates.

++Important observation is that anything Hillary Clinton said about Paris or ISIS would get global coverage so she had to be cautious.

++Etten still says it's 50-50 for Hillary's election because he thinks security, not the economy will become the central issue.

++Silver wants the twitter feeds and audience reactions and the television's post debate comments cut off. He thinks telling people who won the debate on moments after seeing it spoils the effect. God, he's getting old fogey on us.
