The Paris Agreement Nears Vote

++The Guardian (UK) is live-blogging the event as Secretary Kerry and China's Xie greet each other. The "Coalition of High Ambition" headed by the Marshall Islands did selfies. Naturally Al Gore has to be there. The EU announced its agreement to the draft. The United States is on board. Remember the US didn't sign the Kyoto agreement in the 1990s.

++The Agreement now has to be unanimous. It would be the first Global agreement supported by 200 nations to com at carbon emissions.

++I love how they say the "scrubbers" ha finished their work. These are the translators who must interpret the technical language so it is understood in the different languages. The final agreement has been translated in 6 languages and circulated in the hall.

++It is already been denounced as a fraud. But the argument is that serious carbon reduction can't happen unless it is taxed and that the agreement has to be legally binding as a treaty. When it's approved, I write more about that.

++Whether this agreement meets the trick, what it does do is create a new paradigm for the global economy. In fact, this event marks the beginning of our new economy. The economic consequences of this agreement are tremendous because the side agreements and initiatives have poured $1 trillion in commitments to renewal energy.

++The hype of a Deal to Save the world maybe excessive but the achievement of getting 200 nations to agree on anything substantive is simply huge.
