This is the type of thing you het with Congress back in session. The Payment was the result of negotiations under the Iran-American Commission which adjudicates disputes since the Iranian Revolution. The Hague was going to announce a finding several billion more than we settled for payment dating back to an arms purchase from the Shah's time.
The GOP purposely confuses this with the Iran Nuclear deal and calls this ransom because we wouldn't release the payment owed until Americans held by Iran were released.
Trump claimed to see pallets of money sent to Iran and then retracted his statement. But Senator Cotton of Arkansas has kept this fiction up.
Sort of like shutting down the government over Obamacare. That cost us $350 million. If we had refused to settle this Iranian dispute,the Hague would have given Iran a diplomatic victory and we would be out several million more.
Not to be outdone The House wants a special prosecutor on Hillary's emails saying someone erased evidence under investigation.
