THE RESISTANCE

I thought when the darkness fell that we should adopt Vaclav Havel's theory of anti-politics. Basically occupy all the spaces that continue to exist in our culture and society. And work to expand them. The straight political sphere at the national level has closed. There the remains of liberal democracy have to be forceful and overt in their resistance to Trump. We have a short time before the Supreme Court is locked into 30 years of regressive decisions. So on the legal front resistance will have to start again at the grassroots level.

If you live in a blue state, you have room to move. The West Coast is protected for decades. Where I live, it exists under threats every two years. But at least I won't see Carly Fiorina anytime soon.

Financially,if you are my age, make sure you own nothing that is affected or linked to the performance of our economy. That means stocks particularly. Paul Krugman is right that an economic recession is coming but it won't be the small ones. 

And culturally we remain free and the internet allows for the continued growth of our music and writing. Although I saw Trump supporters hacked Democracy Underground and out it out of action. Target subjects of concern ,which may not overtly seem to be political but are known to in the progressive community.

For me,I am retired from my work in overseas' democracy development because not only will that be even more suspect coming from an authoritarian regime but the model will now move to authoritarian political economies. It is doubtful whether an American can be believed over issues of human rights.
