Republicans win 3 of the recall elections; Democrats win 2. "Randy" Randy Hooper loses a close election. And so it turns on Distict 8's Waukesha County results, which mysteriously are being held up for at least 1 hour. You will remember the Supreme Court fiasco here. Republicans claim they have this race won. So far it is Pasch (D) with 51%, 23,804 against Darling (R) 49%, 22,693. Darling was a teaparty favorite.

Apparently, at the last minute big chunk of Republican votes came in for Darling to put here in the lead. Darling took the lead with about 2,500 votes and now has 52%. 79% reported counted. Then it goes down to Milwaukee for the finale.
If Pasch should win, the Democrats win back the Senate. If not, then I wonder what the post-mortem will be.
How much of the new voting ID laws made a difference? The polling was changing by the minute so what did the last minute money mean? And how much of the results were frankly cooked like in the Supreme Court race? But at least the recalls were organized and it did suck millions to defend seats already won. To walk through recall laws successfully is an accomplishment.
Where I expect Wisconsin will make a difference is in Michigan. I believe Ohio will repeal the union-busting law because they have done it before under very similar situations.
The Democratic State Chair Mike Tate at 12:20pm announced that the Darling vote came from the same election official that was involved in the Supreme Court scandal. Remember she kept the ballots in her house and had her own personal system of accounting for the results. It looks like this particular race will be going into a recount if things in Waukesha look slightly dodgy.
