MENSCH: BORIS EPSHTEYN PAID RUSSIAN HACKERS FOR TEAM TRUMP AND FSB.
The website Patribotics says that a Connecticut court revealed that Team Trump paid the hackers. Louise Mensch asserts that recently departed Trump aide Boris Epshteyn was the paymaster.
The story goes back to the server at Trump Tower which Mensch claims relayed messages back and forth to Russia and that packets of info were picked up by Trump individuals every day.
Epshteyn's lawyer has responded to Mensch but in a very ambiguous way and not in an aggressive defense of Epshteyn.
It will be interesting to find out how accurate Mensch turns out in the whole process. Where she has been ahead of other news outlets has been on the hacking that when far behind the DNC. She was vindicated in part by the Senate intel committee talking about the bots flooding the emails of swing voters. This was beyond the DNC hack.

THE MARCH FOR SCIENCE
Tomorrow is the march for science--any kind of science and the following Saturday will be the march for the climate.
Today's New York Times have beautiful photos of icebergs floating by Ferrytown, Newfoundland. This isn't supposed to happen. I read John Kerry's oped in the Washington Post why he is optimistic this coming Earth Day. He traced his involvement from the first Earth Day when there was no EPA until the day he signed the Paris Climate Agreement--amazing progress over 40 years but the time is running out.
Scott Pruitt announced the war against coal was over. He actually went to a coal burning power plant that the EPA has found pollutes the equivalent of a few thousand cars per year. Senator Blount of Missouri said that to have an EPA director who sued the EPA all the time was amazing. Amazing Indeed.
But the broader attack on science is throughout the Trump administration. All science grants that have already been approved are suspended. So you have to hear celebrities tell NPR which cures for diseases are threatened. Maria Shriver tells you that it is alzheimer's . Do we know whether Joe Biden's Moonshot on Cancer is still alive? I bet not.
It is incredible that the United States now consciously decides to cede scientific leadership to other countries. This was our pride since Benjamin Franklin.
Small things like the special visas for the tech industry negatively impact us.
We still don't know how bad the Bully Budget will be for science but the early numbers are catastrophic.
Only a few scientists have the stomach for fighting back like Michael Mann. The plight of science and science teaching in this country is not even covered by the media. You only get to hear about climate change on the late night comedy shows. Certainly not in the major media.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a start for all those people who love and respect science. Get out and march!

Take everybody's healthcare away. The new Zoombie Trumpcare is worse than the bill that got rejected. Remember the CBO scored the second to last bill. And found that 24 million would lose their health insurance. While the GOP claims they have no bill yet, they want a vote on Wednesday. The outlines for the bill would be far worse than the original. Bob Costa in the Washington Post estimates that the same 24 million would lose their healthcare and a similar amount would lose their healh insurance because they won't be able to afford it--premiums would skyrocket.
The Trumpcare bill would get rid of the protections of the Affordable Care Act on pre-existing conditions. States would be allowed to opt out of what guranatees were afforded by the ACA and could adopt "garbage" insurance.
As in the past,there has not been a single hearing about its affect on healthcare in this country. The sole reason to pass this bill is because Trump has nothing to show for his first 100 days. And Paul Ryan is desperate to give the wealthy a whopping tax break.
But within a week,the Republicans have to fund the government and that now is off because Trump's Budget director is trying to cut a deal with Democrats that the Trump administration will pay the subsidies for health insurance if they vote for the Wall. Senate Republicans don't want to vote for the wall.
Nefarious or incompetent--or both? The events of the past week have been depressing. Should we be confident that the GOP can't get their act together?
But remember those congress critters who want to take health insurance away from millions of people are those in our society who have the best healthcare for life paid for courtesy of the American tax payer. I think the proper response is to kill all those who vote for the bill. For millions it is a life or death situation. Maybe make it the same for Congress.

NYT: INSURERS SHOULD MAKE SMALL PROFIT THIS YEAR ON OBAMACARE.
Paul Krugman wrote about this months ago but The Times had an article today that demonstrated that this would be the last year insurers would lose on Obamacare and that next year the market would stabilize and then major insurance companies would make profits from thereon out.

It is clear that Americans like to blow things up. Brian Williams called the Tomahawk missiles beautiful as they were fired off. The Washington Post loved the idea of bombing a Syrian airbase. The neo-conservatives supported Trump and General Keane said that Trump sent a message to the world. What that message is--is anyone's guess.
Did you get the shot of the briefing room? The Trump team made it look like Obama overseeing the bin Laden raid. Some wag circled the figures in green and red to symbolize Goldman Sachs and those that owed Goldman Sachs money.
The Pentagon said the raid was limited and that no others would occur. They also released a press release that they were investigating whether Russia was behind the chemical weapons attack on the Syrians. Previously the UN had certified that 95% of the chemical weapons had been destroyed. Now the Wall Street Journal and Bob Kagan blames it all on Obama.
A couple of facts. We did notify the Russians beforehand and personnel and equipment were removed from the scene. We did not destroy the Sarin containers at the airbase nor did we destroy the runways. For $60 million Trump got the Photos that he was a man of action. But that's about it. One missile attack does not make a policy.
I am glad it was proportional and obviously it did not change the political equation one whit.
It seems to me that it showed how weak the United States is at this moment. That a cruise missile attack can generate a debate over meaning. It is clear to me that the United States can not generate another Iraq War anytime soon. There doesn't seem to be the stomach for it.
We are in a hot war in Afghanistan,Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Somalia not to mention where our special forces are. Before the Syrian strike,the week before saw several casualties there of American soldiers.
Retired Generals complained that Trump declared the strike as "within the national security interest of the United States" when it wasn't. And many congresspeople insisted he get the permission from the Congress before any next steps. We've been through this before with no resolution.
We will have to wait for a policy statement from Trump in the days ahead.

The Republicans tried to make "unmasking" the issue in the Russia scandal and said that it was all Susan Rice's fault. Josh Marshall put this in perspective in his read out of the Trump administration's ham-fisted attempt to change the narrative.
The good news is that the major media is not buying it. Rand Paul decided to go in on this story that Susan Rice "unmasked" the names of those Trump people talking to the Russians for political purposes. Susan Rice appeared on NBC to be interviewed by Angela Mitchell and methodically explained the process and that she could not unilaterally do this or circulate the info. The right said it was a softball interview. I suggest they grill her on #Benghazi!
If that doesn't do the trick,there is Clinton Cash trying to revive the issue of Jon Podesta's brother having a contract to represent a Russian bank. He giot about 25K out of this. Or Hillary Clinton giving away the uranium to Russia--something 11 agencies had to sign off on and she had no role in.
Carter Paige says he doesn't like being labeled a spy, while the Russian spy called him an idiot.
The Eric Prince African adventure relates to the hair-brained scheme of trying to get Russia to back away from Iran in exchange for the lifting of sanctions. This idea was floated by Michael Ledeen in the Wall Street Journal and you should be aware. The Bannon faction believes Russia is the most reliable ally in a war against radical Islam. And that securing their cooperation is the most important thing the United States can do.
That explains some recent stunts such as Rex Tillerson explaining we don't want to topple Assad in Syria and Trump welcoming the Butcher of Cairo,President Cessi to the White House and saying he is doing a "fantastic job"
Meanwhile Assad gassed civilians in Syria and Cessi has killed or jailed 1,000s in Egypt.
