Zach outlines what the FBI as an institution can do and also individual agents. LEAK. LEAK.
But it is very important that they resist a new FBI head who is a Trump or Sessions stooge. He mentions that Nixon put Patrick Grey in and how the FBI made his life miserable with leaks after leaks. He talks about how Deep Throat cared really more about the tribal nature of the FBI than about democracy. He thought he was protecting the FBI from Nixon's efforts to reign it in.
He also suggests other avenues of investigation and these develop. Trump has never been caught up in a criminal investigation but Matt Yglesias has reported Trump's long ties with the American mafia and his use of casinos for money laundering. They can go after these.
Also remember Laurence Tribe is working on an Emoluments Clause violation. They can help out.
He also points out that the Senate Intel Committee has little staff or resources. but the FBI can maximize its reach by being very helpful to them.
Zach's point is that Trump now is so much weaker after firing Comey than before.
