April's Fools

There are truly so many that qualify that we had to keep it down to a random few.

Rep. Alan Hale in the Montana State Legislature argued against the new DUI laws in the state saying they were "destroying a way of life that had been in Montana for years and years." The legislator said that pubs were an important meeting place for rural citizens of the state. Of course, he had a financial interest in this, he owns a bar.

Florida Governor Conman Rick Scott used emergency powers to make deep cuts in programs that serve tens of thousands with Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism and developmental disabilities. Then he went to a ceremony celebrating the Special Olympics.

The Montana State Senate repealed the state's medical marijuana law, even though they had passed it previously.

Republican legislators in Florida demanded that Democrats not refer to body parts in political debates. State representative Scott Randolph offended them. He remarked that he suggested his wife "incorporate her uterus" because Republicans didn't want to regulate corporations but did want to restrict abortions in the state.

In Indiana, they have their own war against the uteri. A Republican state legislator wants to strip out the language in the abortion bill that allows the procedure "in case of rape." He claims women will have "abortion on demand" by claiming they were raped.

Rick Santorum, the Forthy Mix Presidential candidate, claims that abortion is the reason that Social Security has problems (which it doesn't.). See more births would have made Social Security more fiscally sound. Of course, legalizing undocumented workers would also make it more sound.

Teabagger Governor Le Page of Maine said that the "timing" of removing the labor mural in Maine was bad. I should say so because it came as the Governor wants to repeal child labor laws.

A Federal judge ruled in favor of the Sons of Confederate Veterans saying they can have confederate flags on Florida license plates. He claimed this was freedom of speech.

Mitch McConnell demanded that every GOP Senator endorse a constitutional amendment mandating a balanced budget and that federal spending could not exceed 18% of the GDP without a supermajority vote in the Senate. Every single GOP Senator has signed on. The father of supply-side economics, Bruce Bartlett called it "mind-boogling insanity." Bartlett has frequently detailed how ruinous such an amendment would be and how it would only worsen the national debt. It certainly has worked out well for all the states.

The city of Peoria, Arizona has been repeatedly billing Jennifer Petz $2,000. Her teenager son cut himself while making a snack and he called the ambulance which took him to the emergency room. The city claims they then sent a bio-hazard company to clean up blood droplets on her sidewalk. Jennifer says she will not be intimidated by the city government, even though they kept sending her the bill. At least this time they explained it.

Donald Trump is now being hailed by the Christian Right and the Teabaggers for his birther position. The Donald has used his birther credentials to secure himself a spot on the show Fox and Friends. The Donald released his birth certificate but observers found out it wasn't official. What the Donald failed to mention is that the state of Hawaii actually did release the long-form birth certificate of President Obama in 2009. Previously all of us had seen the normal birth certificate.

The Donald also offered asylum to Qaddafi's foreign minister who defected to the UK in Barbados. What country is the Donald a citizen of?
