++The government jobs report shows an increase of 288,000 jobs. The unemployment rate is now down to 6.1%, the lowest it has been since 2008. There are still 3.4 million long-term unemployment.
Bruce McColm was the former executive director of Freedom House, a human rights group in New York,the President of the International Republican Institute and currently is the President of the Institute for Democratic Strategies. In the pre-digital age, his writings appeared in the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, the Christian Science Monitor, Newsweek and other magazines and journals.
