++I wondered why the Mormon church was so fast off the trigger in denouncing the Oregon takeover. The Bundy crowd, including Captain Moroni, are Mormons. A blogger printed a map of a 19th century scheme for a Mormon empire that includes the section of Oregon where the wildlife sanctuary is.
++Then another reader opt this blog pointed out that strictly speaking the Sagebrush rebellion took place in the 1970s and 1980s, not the 1990s as I wrote, and that one of the leaders was Orrin Hatch who won election in Utah on the platform of taking land from the federal government. If you are old enough,Hatch for many years was treated in Washington as if he knew about the constitution.
++So should we call the seizure of the birdlife sanctuary "Mormon Terrorism"? By the way, the birdlife sanctuary is not a recent development. It was created by Theodore Roosevelt, the Bull Moose, not FDR. So the antagonism by the occupiers is based on an old grudge.
