++Jennifer Rubin, Mitt Romney's great cheerleader in the last election and one of the most outspoken anti-Trump Republicans, must be dismayed. The GOP rules committee was massaged by Paul Manafort and made sure there would be no "conscience clause" so that delegates could vote a different way. That just ended the Never Trump rebellion.
++So far there are no Republican dignitaries from the foreign establishment elite speaking. In fact, I had a conversation with a Trump supporter the other day who did not know of any Trump foreign policy advisers.
++Romney and McCain aren't attending. The Bushes aren't coming. In fact Jeb is still speaking out that Trump is not the future of the party.
++Mike Huckabee is speaking as are Chris Christie, who must feel used today,and Ted Cruz. I heard Ben Carson might speak.
++There is no one from any policy part of the Republican party making an appearance.
++Caterers in Cleveland are laying off staffs because there are few corporate parties. Corporations have pulled out of sponsoring the GOP Convention in droves. One of the few who remained complained that Trump didn't even know the primary donors of the Party, while Romney knew every one of them.
++This has led the RNC to beg Sheldon Adelson to give them $6 million to make up for the convention's shortfall.
++What is scary is that Donald Trump will not only be the nominee of the Republican Party but the leader of that party even if he loses.
++For the rest of us, we can look forward to seeing the return of John Stewart, who couldn't resist the temptation to broadcast nightly on the events. During the days,we have Andrew Sullivan blogging for New York Magazine.
