Heading to Meltdown

+The S+P went over 1,900 for the first time ever, proving socialism works.

+Karl Rove claims that Hillary Clinton suffered a brain trauma during her fall last year and you know because she was wearing glasses that people who suffer such trauma do. He recanted his statement by noon to say he really meant to say questions about her age should be asked.

+Tom Donohue of the American Chamber of Commerce said that if the GOP doesn't pass an immigration reform bill this year than there is no sense of them fielding a Presidential candidate in 2016.

+John Boehner says that if the Democrats boycott the Benghazi Committee it won't affect the fairness of the investigation.

+The Senate Republicans blocked the bipartisan energy-efficient bill so there will be no vote on the Keystone XL Pipeline that Harry Reid promised.

+PPP has a new poll out that shows Tillis' pandering to the Teaparty in North Carolina has cost him among the general electorate. Hagan leads Tillis 38-36 with a sup rising 11% for Haugh, a libertarian.

+Tomasky in the Daily Beat has an article on "Who Politicized Benghazi", replaying Romney's role in 2012.

+Former George W. Bush's aide Richard Clarke told Last Word that the Benghazi Committee was a "stunt". He did point out that Thomas Pickering, who conducted the Accountability Review Board was the only 8-time Ambassador in our country's history.

+Richard Cohen of the Amazon Post, who usually can't stand President Obama expressed disgust at the Benghazi Committee and reported he has only listened to conservative talk radio lately and is outraged how they refer to President Obama.

+Eugene Robinson wrote a sober assessment of the GOP's antics on Benghazi.

+Dave Weigel had a piece in Slate that went after Jennifer Rubin's euphoria about the GOP this year. He blasts her assessment of Nick Gillespie in Virginia, who is running 20 its behind Warner, her optimism that the Democrats are losing in Iowa, when the polls indicate the opposite and that the GOP might pick up a Senate seat in Michigan. He calls Michigan the GOP's "fool's gold".

+Friday is "Operation American Spring" here in Washington with the rightwing claiming that they will stay on the mall until the entire government resigns.

+Out West, the Bundy clan went up to Utah to ride ATVs through Recapture Canyon. Think Progress got this one right. This area has the most dense concentration of archaeological finds than anywhere in the United States. It houses the remains of pre-Hopi and Pueblo civilizations. Some are in untouched. The BMI made it off-limits to ATVS because they had caused damage to the finds. The antics of the Bundy bunch meant driving over sacred ceremonial territory of the Navaho nation and over their graves.

+The Santa Maria was found off Haiti, reminding us that native Americans have been fighting terrorism since 1492.
