Stan Greenberg and James Carville on the Post article

++Greenberg and Carville react to the Post poll that showed that the Democrats can't not turn their advantages on key issues to a mid-term edge. They claimed that the Post had to make great contortions to come to that conclusion.

++Two-thirds of the Post poll's respondents said they would not re-elect their member of Congress--which is 5 points up in a month. Carville and Greenberg's own polling shows the majority of voters think the Republicans are in control of the whole Congress.

++On the issue of the ACA, the heart of the GOP's strategy,Republicans have only a two point advantage . 36% are less likely to vote for someone who supports the ACA and 34% most likely to vote for a supporter of the ACA. Just four months ago in the same Post/ABC News poll Republicans had a 16-point advantage. Now 44-36,voters favor Democrats to handle healthcare.

++On the minimum wage,by 50 to 19, people are more likely to vote for someone who favors raising the minimum wage.

The Republicans have lost ground in particular on handling the economy, budget deficits and immigration.

++Greenberg and Carville pointed to the most stunning question. Are they "in touch with concerns of most people in the United States today or out of touch? Nearly 48% say both the President and the Democrats are in touch, which is an astonishing 20 points higher than the number saying that about Republicans.

++Both men tut-tut about the Post proclamation that it is a Republican year.

++their short piece in the National Memo generated 14 pages of comments, which were even more citical of the GOP, not the usual spite filled comments you read in the Post.
