Deal or Not--The Iranian Nuclear Agreement Will Be The Next Obamacare

++The Iranian Deal in written form is almost the same size as the Affordable Care Act and expect it to draw as much vitriol as that.

++Setting the tone for the future domestic "debate" is Mort Zuckerman writing in The U.S News and World Report a lengthy scree on "Obama's Unforgivable Act". The gist of it is that Presidents Clinton and George W. Bush vowed that Iran would never get a nuclear weapon. But President Obama, after vowing the same, allowed Iran to retain its nuclear enrichment program and only stalled the bomb for 10-15 years.
Zuckerman points out that Iran is a signatory of the Non-proliferation Act and has violated it at every turn. President Obama ignored Israel's counsel on this issue--which is understandable given past advice on Iraq's nuclear program--and left America's allies out to dry. Naturally the agreement will stimulate an arms race in the Middle East--which of course doesn't exist now.

++On the arms race--yes, it started months before the Iranian deal because of the anxiety of the Saudis, Gulf States and Israel over the release of sanctions money to Iran.  Naturally the bigger winners of the arms race are the weapons manufacturers--American,Russian, French and British.

++The difference with ACA is that Congress is totally controlled by the GOP, which is unanimous against any deal with Iran. President Obama will have to keep the Democrats in line to avoid the GOP sabotaging the deal. Then we have Bibi showing up at the United Nations to alienate the world community but give ammunition to Obama's domestic foes.

++Whether President Obama can avoid a complete setback on the Iran deal remains to be seen. At least he can look forward to the Global Change Deal in Paris in December which will make heads explode.
