NBC/ Wall Street Poll

The NBC/Wall Street poll wasn't good news for Mitt Romney. Gingrich in a multi-candidate race has a 40% to 23% lead over Mitt Romney. Over 2/3rds of Republicans believe Romney is either a liberal or a moderate. Only 29% view him as somewhat or very conservative. Over 57% believe Gingrich is a conservative. In a two-way race, it gets worse for Romney with Gingrich beating Mitt 59% to 36%.

Now when it comes to running against Obama, Obama beats Romney by 2--47% to 45%. But Obama whips Gingrich 51% to 40%. What is striking in the poll is that 50% of voters say they will absolutely not vote for Ginrgich. Of "real" swing voters he is disliked by a 3 to 1 margin. Only 16% view Gingrich favorably compared to 48% unfavorably.

On who will defend the Middle Class, the poll has shifted dramatically. 44% say Democrats will, but only 24% believe Republicans will.

On Congress, a combined 75% grade Congress as below average (33%) or the worse Congress (42%).

I imagine we will see more schizophrenic findings showing how far right Republicans have become against the population at large
