It's Half-time in America

The last line of last night's post should be "you would expect an expose". I'm bind as a bat and deaf as a post--two great qualities to have for blogging.

++The monthly jobs report is out--the private sector gained 227,000 and the public sector lost 6,000 jobs. The real news is the revision of last month's upward to over 274,000 private sector jobs created. The unemployment rate is still 8.3%, largely because of an increase in people coming back to look for jobs. The RNC helpfully says that " the situation is not improving". But the last three jobs reports were the best three months since the Recession began and the last six months were the best job creation months since 2006.

++I know President Obama has been absolutely dreadful on the energy front. This month marks the first time in over 50 years that the United States is a net exporter of oil. With the GOP going back to their "Drill,Baby, Drill", I have to ask where they expect the rigs to come from since all available rigs are now being used in the United States.

++For the small government crowd, it should be noted that the U.S. Federal Government right now is the same size as when Ronald Reagan was President in 1983. You won't hear that in the media. Or that Reagan's stimulus of the economy was much larger as percent of GDP than Obama's.

++Meanwhile in the GOP's constant war against the Uteri, GOP pollsters are now saying that the party is struggling to get over 33% of the woman vote this election cycle. In 2008, McCain got 43% of the woman vote. GOP operatives already acknowledge what I wrote previously about how the Hispanic vote is stampeding toward President Obama.

++Rick Santorum looks to take the Kansas caucus tomorrow.

++To dispel any fears I created by quoting Dick Morris and Bibi Netanyahu's desire to defeat President Obama, it should be remembered that Bibi can not unilaterally decide to attack Iran. He must get the votes of the secret cabinet, the Octet. If he loses one or two in the eight person mini-cabinet, he must form a new government. In other words, for all his bluster, he could be putting the survival of his own government on the line.
