The Search for The President in 2016 Begins

+Senator Elizabeth Warren said again today that she would not run for President.

+Jennifer Rubin in today's Imperial Post rules out her favorite from last time, Mitt Romney. She doesn't think the Deport them all and the top tax rate is too high will win many voters. She also says that Romney's staff was too cumbersome and now too old to make a serious run for it. She says that Jeb and Mitt would split the donors and ruin Chris Christie's chances.

+Mitt Romney, however, has step on the accelerator and is calling former staff, donors and even Newt Gingrich for a three time bid. He claims he will run on the issue of poverty. I guess this will be in the bid to win the 47%.

+I am looking for some one with the repose of Charles DeGaulle, the political instincts of Machiavelli, and the spiritual depth and tranquility of a Buddhist teacher.

+Readers of this blog know that I am very skeptical of the political prowess of my own generation. That was one of the many reasons I voted for Barack Hussein Obama. One of the others was quite simply he read the same books I did. Like the blogger Drunken Irishman, I would vote for him a third time. But Jake Tapper says his faux pas of not going to Paris rules that out. I thought it was the constitution.

+The country can't stand a constant barrage that the President is a Muslim,is secretly married to a gay or was born in another country. President Obama has handled this with style, humor and aplomb. The lesson we are supposed to take away from this presidency is that the American people are not supposed to elect an African-American--pure and simple. Whites can't handle it. They pretend they could elect an Hispanic but who's kidding who.

+Now we come down to a woman as first President. Women would run the country better. You can tell from the elected woman they are more serious about things. So I would not rule out a vote for Hillary Clinton.

+But I agree with Barbara Bush there must be more than Bushes and Clintons around to elect as President.

+There is someone without kids (sorry, I feel for any kids in the White House),who is not  baby-boomer. That person has $20 million in the bank from his last campaign. He was already a folk-hero as a figure in a cartoon. He has run twice before for President. The last time he won primaries against Bill Clinton in Maine,Colorado,Nevada, Alaska,Vermont and Connecticut and went to the Convention.

+This man has a degree in classics so he qualifies as having read favorite texts of mine.

+ This man has been elected governor of his state four times. He has served as a mayor of a mid-level city twice. He has also served as the Attorney-Genral of his state and took Countrywide to court for mortgage fraud. He has been at the vanguard of fighting climate change and sponsoring alternative energy sources. He has balanced budgets and run one of the world's largest economies.

+He is in great shape from years of jogging. He is a former Jesuit and Zen master. Like President Obama he has the temperament for the presidency.

+He also has the first name of one of James Ellroy's favorite characters--Edmund.

+His father was a governor like Willard Romney and he knows how every level of government works and is supposed to work. More importantly throughout his career he has thought about the future and spoken about the future challenges to the country. Like President Obama he devoted to education as a means of progress.

+He would have to face agism because his first term would end at the age of 82.

+But the likely odds of two consecutive Democratic two term President is slight and we need to escape the lunacy mounting right now means the Edmund "Jerry" Brown is the only one who can save us now.

+He could choose Hillary as Vice President.
