The new spokeswoman is a former moderator for Fox News but Josh said in her first outing she was prepared and soldiered on stating America's position to the world even though the President is out to lunch. She argued that the US only found out the cutting of relation between Qatar and the rest of the Arab world only about a half hour before the event happened. She noted that the State Department urged cooperation and that Qatar had taken significant steps to cease funding terrorists. Reporters pointed out how this was the opposite of Trump. She admitted there was a slight bump in the road.
Rogin feels this strategy is counterproductive in the long run. But it certainly is refreshing for our foreign policy arm to speak rationally. If you actually melded Trump with the State Department the chaos and incoherence would be destabilizing not just for us but abroad.
