+The military doctors report that Sgt.Bergdahl was now in a stable condition, conversing with the medical staff and more engaged in his treatment-care plan.
+So after all the hysteria generated by the right, what do we really know about Sgt.Bergdahl's capture and conditions of captivity. Not a hell of a lot.
+He didn't leave the note pundits claimed show he deserted. There is an internal report that showed he walked away several times and always returned. We have Afghan villagers say he showed up dazed and disoriented and they warned him the Taliban were nearby.
+We do not know how many places in five years he was held. We know there were at least two times he escaped and his captives had to beef up their monitoring of him. We do not know the conditions under which he was held. How much light was there in the various places he was held? What was his diet? How many times--if any--did he interact with anyone per day? We don't even know whether he was beaten or physically abused.
+Dr.Kilgare, Senator Tom Coburn said the last video showed he was drugged and he thought he was in pretty good shape when others said not.
+The fact is that we know nothing about what happened to him or how he left his base. We know nothing about his mental state or what possessed him to do a walkabout in Afghanistan. We know nothing about how he was transported to Pakistan or by whom.
+So we do know he was a prisoner of war, not a hostage as House Republicans claim. And every military officer, even those who do not like this president, agree that "we leave no person behind." Even Doug Brooks sort of got the gist of it in today's New York Times.
+We also know that the Taliban "leaders" that were released were prisoners of war, which concern conservatives. The Taliban once were a horrible government and now represent a political faction and armed force within Afghanistan. Only one of those released we know had any military experience and he was a cop. We also know the others were colleagues of Mullah Omar.
+As for returning to the battlefield, this morning the Administration announced they have ways to monitor their stay in Oman.
+So that's about it. We will have to wait until Sgt.Bergdahl is healthy and is able to talk about his experience. Until then it was a normal occurrence at the end of America's longest war.
