Good News--Sort Of

++The Lima Climate Change Summit did produce an agreement where countries made commitments to stop carbon emissions. The usual splits between the developing countries and the developed countries occurred but the negotiations were held over two days and produced an accord.

++The United States was actually well-received after President Obama had reached an unprecedented agreement with China. John Kerry made a forceful call to the international community to follow up on their commitments.

++Next stop Paris where the UN is scheduled to reach a climate change agreement next month. But critics will note that such an agreement will not be in the form of a treaty. Rather it will depend on voluntary compliance. That was the strategy coming out of Beijing.

++Onward!
